Dreaded Disk Read Error- My Log and Detailed Updates

To start out, I want to say Im not new to the modding scene. In the past ive modded a original playstation and original xbox. After that, I went into computer gaming and havent got back into consoles until I picked up a Wii. I am running into problems though- Disk Read errors to be exact. In the past, my Xbox and Playstation were not as picky as this Wii was. With all the "Disk Read Error" threads out there for Wiis, I decided to make a log and post up my results as I find them.

I am currently using Verbatim DVD-R Media. I read that this is the best behind Taiyo Yuden media
    Newegg.com - Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD-R 100 Packs Cake Box Disc - CD / DVD Media

The Wii is a D2C NTSC-USA wii with a D2Sun 1.5 mod chip attached to the WiiClip. Purchased from ModChipCentral
    D2Sun*V1.53*w/*Wiiclip*V12C*+*On/Off*Switch*+*Triwing*Screwdriver*::*Solderless*Cli p*/*Wii-clip*Bundles*::*Nintendo*Wii*::*Mod*Central*Ltd.*

The burner is the Samsung WriteMaster SH-S203B
    Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners

Now- on to the fun stuff. I have tested 4 games. Mario Kart, Resident Evil 4, Trauma Center: New Blood, and Brunswick Pro Bowling. They were all burnt in Nero 9 using 4x speed

Mario Kart- Worked the first two times it was inserted. After that, got a DRE
Resident Evil 4- Works for 30 mins, then will present a DRE. After ejecting and putting back it, works again
Trauma Center: Wont read at all.
Brunswick Pro Bowling: Works for 15 mins, then kicks out a DRE.

I then read that I should trying the following things

    -Burn with IMGBurn at 4x
    -Burn with IMGBurn at 2.4x
-Burn with IMGBurn at half the disk's max speed (8x in my case)
-Burn with IMGBurn changing Write mode to Incremental

    More extreme measures would be
    -Trying Taiyo Yuden brand
-Changing burner to either a Pioneer or LG

I decided to use Trauma Center:New Blood as my game of choice for the following tests. I havent been able to test them in the Wii itself as a friend of mine is borrowing it, but I was able to run tests on the disks using DVDInfoPro. The following charts is what I came up with.

First test (This is the disk mentioned above that wont play in the Wii at all)

    Verbatim DVD-R 16x Media
    Burned with Nero 9
    4x Speed

    Second Test

    Verbatim DVD-R 16x Media
Burned with IMGBurn: Writing Mode= DAO/SAO (Default)
    8x Speed

    Third Test

    Verbatim DVD-R 16x Media
Burned with IMGBurn: Writing Mode= DAO/SAO (Default)
    Burn Speed= 4x

    Fourth Test

    Verbatim DVD-R 16x Media
Burned with IMGBurn: Writing Mode= Incremental
    Burn Speed=4x

    Fifth Test

    Verbatim DVD-R 16x Media
Burned with IMGBurn: Writing Mode = SAO/DAO (Standard)
    Burn Speed= 2.4X

Again, all the IMGBurned media above has not been tested on the Wii yet; however, I was hoping someone can explain the graphs to me and can also tell me which one SHOULD play on my wii. I see the quality on each is above 99% so I cant see what the problem is. I will report back later once I have more results

Edit: I just updated the firmware from stock (released 10/27/07) to the latest firmware (released 5/28/08). I am going to burn another copy at 4x with standard write mode with the new firmware and test it later on

    Update!!!!

    Test 6
    Verbatim Media DVD-R 16x
Burned with IMGBurn: DAO/SAO (Default Mode)
    4x
This is with the updated firmware

Good news! Best burn yet AND the end doesnt peak off as much as previous burns. This is the best thus far. Tomorrow these disks will be put to the Wii test

Burn at 2x speed. That's the best for Wii.
