I don't get why this is happening. I'm sorry if I have just wasted your time.
Actually you were right. I first checked a backup of the drive and it was there. I just double checked again and it was missing. I added the line "ios = 250" and it's working. I just reinstalled 249 V17 and it's able to backup games lightning fast again all while under 222. Not really sure what happened but now it seems 100% Thanks again for the support.

Glad to here I am not a complete failure. I was 2 shots of tequila before going over the edge.

Now that you have 250 set, you can use the 249 boot.dol again if you want (it doesn't matter either way).

I'm having this same problem. I used Mauifrog's tutorial to mod my Wii awhile back. No problems - games copy in 10-15 minutes. I modded a friends Wii today with the same tutorial and while Configurable USB Loader works (loads, can load games from my USB drive, etc) trying to copy a game reports a 2-3 hour install. I checked the disc by copying it on my Wii, no problems. I also tested by using the same USB HDD as the target on both machines - mine goes fast, his is slow.

As far as I can tell, we are using the same IOS (the CFG USB Loader splash screen says 248[FRAG] on both of ours when it starts, and the .cfg files are identical). The system wide config screen looks similar in that the reported IOS info is the same:

    Loader version: 65
    IOS248 (r65535) [FRAG]
    Base: IOS?? DI:57 mload v.1.0

That said, out cIOS Info differs somewhat. Is possible that the loaded cIOS files are making the difference even though they aren't the ones being loaded by default? If so, is there a way to load up "all" the cIOS files (the recommended ones, anyways)? I followed the modding guide for both, and while they both eventually worked, I seemed to have more trouble with his having to reload wad files.

If it's just his optical drive being more worn out, is there a way to test that to be sure?

    Any suggestions at all???

    THANKS!

Thought you tested the same drive on both machines.
Does his console have alot less free memory than yours? Not sure if it has anything to do with it, or if it needs to write to it. Just throwing something out there.

Everything is the same between the setups, including the HDD. The only variable is the Wii itself (which would include the optical, or DVD, drive).

The only other thing I have been able to come up with in searching is if IOS58 is out of date/missing/not being used to load the CFG USB Loader forwarder the USB could be running at 1.1 speeds rather than 2.0. Can anyone tell me how to make sure the forwarder is loading with IOS58?
