Dude! Do like me and hit up the Best Buy / Circuit City day after Thanksgiving sale. I always get my DVD-Rs day after for cheap!
Usually Sony DVD-R are on sale. I got a 50 pack for $15. I've burned 10+ backups on them without a single problem.

Just look for the advertisements in the paper pretty soon. And get to the store kind of early. Although I doubt that EVERYONE is going for DVDRs, they do make a great stocking stuffer, so they do run out fast.

    Quick edit*
I think I heard that Circuit City was going out of business (but it could be only the store by me is closing) That means discounts! discounts! discounts!

these are the same as their gold version.

    excellent, no burn issues.
from what people say the dye is good.
the dvds are blank, white, and look like they belong with the wii

i modded my ex's wii back when wiis were first coming out and we had a wii ninja chip. the system is still functional and no laser issues.

I just picked up a stack from FutureShop:

    Verbatim DVD-R
    White Inkjet Printable
    Made in Taiwan

Will try burning on a friends ibook tonight. Currently my DVD+R discs aren't reliable at all. Also, I only have a +R burner so will be trading a friend for a combi burner soon.

    EDIT: Current disc information:
    Unbranded DVD+R
    CMC Magnetics Corporation

    Also have tried:
    Fuji Film DVD+R
    Ritek Co.
