    Problems with DVD+R

I know I'm sure you guys have had plenty of problems with this and, if there's an faq for this, please direct me to it. Anyway, my dad recently bought some DVD+R discs. I forgot to ask him to get DVD-R discs, but I've tried to make due. So I've been burning my games to the discs. I got Super Mario Galaxy 2 working once last night with Neo Gamma R8 but that's it. I've tried to get Mario Galaxy 2 working again with no luck, in addition to trying Monster Hunter Tri, little King's Story, and New Super Mario Bros Wii. I either get an 1328 error or a 1417 error. My wii is currently running on IOS 249 rev17. Help would be very much appreciated.

When burning DVD +R, set the Book Type to DVD ROM. If the brand of DVD is not Verbatim then good luck.

If you are a noob at burning DVD's that you want to actually use
    then here are some guidelines

    1. burn at 4x
    2. do not multi task while burning
    3. make sure any programs are not running in the background, make sure your virus scanner or screen saver don't start running
    4. check the box next to verify burn before you start the burn
    5. just let your computer burn the disc, don't even make one mouse click

ignore any step here and failure may occur

Would Sony work as well? I have been using 4x and verifying the discs, and no problems came up during the verification.

have you visited the thread about getting trouble games to work, NSMB and MH3 are on the list of trouble games.

have a look here about the Azo dye that is used by Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim.

Stomp made a good suggestion with regard to bitsetting to DVD-ROM. That's if your burner supports it or there's a hacked firmware to accomplish this. That being said, what hasn't been said is that DVD-R is the suggested media of choice. Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim (as mentioned), or Ritek G05 media are the way to go. We do have a thread about this, it's quite well-known.

I know that DVD-R is preferable, unfortunately, I'm broke, and thus don't have access to them at the moment.

I have never found a situation that dvd+r were more favorable to have than dvd-r, Ppl buy them but I dunno why.
Sent from my van, down by the river.

As I said before, I didn't buy them, my dad did, and I didn't know that DVD+R were preferrable, so I couldn't tell him to get those.

DVD-R you mean (in terms of preference). It's definitely a YMMV scenario.
