    Another SSBB burning thread

I have been searching and can't find an answer to the problem I'm having in this thread.

People are saying to use DVD-R DL discs for burning Smash Bros Brawl.

Problem: When I try to burn using the layer break Imgburn tells me that it can't set the layer break using dvd-r dl media. How are you guys getting around this? I bought these discs especially for this game because everyone recommended them ( I usually have some Verbatim DVD+R DL's laying around but am out at the moment)

Can anyone answer this for me?

If you search the ImgBurn forums, there's a link that says you can't set layer break on DVD-R DL.

I've seen that, but there are all these people saying that they have burned it with a DVD-R DL and I want to see how they did it.

    I'm guessing this link?
    http://www.wiihacks.com/faq-guides-t...rawl-ssbb.html

Maybe they meant only use Verbatim dual layer DVDs? Just about every other type of DL media I've tried for data DVDs (not even consoles) seems to be hit or miss (ex: Fuji 2.4x DVD+RDL won't know anything about my ASUS burners but works fine on my LG burners).

Anyway, I didn't burn it, since a) I don't have a modchip installed on my Wii yet (uhhh... long story, trying to get it resolved), and b) I ended up buying the game months ago because I heard that the earlier drives are particular about dual layer media.

In any case, I would probably say try it using Verbatim DVD+R DL (I think they said use the 2.4x variety wasn't so good and that you should get 8x from Singapore or something) and use booktype to make sure it's DVD-ROM and see if that works.

There's been more discussion about it than that, and they have talked about the different discs, I don't have any more +R's right now, and I bought these specifically for this and any other Wii games that will probably require it in the future.

What version are you on? I'm on the newest one (2.4.2.0) and have way more options

I've used ImgBurn a lot and am very aware of setting layer breaks. It's an issue with the actual program telling me I can't set it on DVD-R DL media. Maybe its my version?

I got that image from google so not sure what version that was, but in anycase I know that layer setting for DVD-R DL has been working may be it was on earlier version 2.4.1.0 but many people have done it.

DVD-R DL as far as I know does not have the capability of setting a layer break. This is how they are designed. A DVD-R DL will write to the 1st layer fully and then go to the 2nd layer after. Only DVD+R DL has the capabilty of setting layer breaks. Unless somethings changed on me since I last checked into this

That's what I've been reading as well, which sucks, I'll just go pick up some more Verbatim +R DL's and try it. I just hate wasting a disc. Now I've got 3 -R DL's that i will probably only use as backups.
