there are mixed answers on this, some say verbatims don't work for them and sony works just great, but most would say that verbatim made in japan/singapore is still the best to go with. dvd-r media. taiyo yuden premium line TYG02 TYG03 is also a very good one to go with, look for made in Japan for that one though.

The problem with media is the wii can usually read them initially, but it could be stressing the laser and overtime it will become weaker. Using good media from the start is the best way to do it.

I heard that very recently some Verbatim dvd-r's were stopped being made in japan/singapore, therefore compromising quality. I guess I'll stick with my Memorex DVD-R, they work fine so far.

for verbatim you need to stick with made in singapore or japan, the ones in taiwan work alright for most, but the ones made in india do not work well. memorex is the worst brand so surprised it does work. I would recommend switching if it starts to give you trouble. Though its playing now it might not actually like the discs and over time will get worse till its not playable.

Weird, so far memorex have been working great so far. I've been thinking of trying maxell dvd-r's but I've yet to burn an iso into one yet.

But still, what's the problem with memorex dvd-r's? X_X

There are to many variables. What kind of burner. Enough ram for buffer underrun. Burn speed..............
Bottom line, use what works for you. I've never had a problem with any disk. I'm currently using "no name" brand $8.00 per 50 DVD-R. Mind you they may only last a year.......

I think you can only find Made in Singapore/Japan Verbatim 16X DVD-R in those single packs, if you buy them by the Spindle they are usually made in Taiwan or India...avoid those made in India and for made in Taiwan ones...they can be manufactured by CMC or Prodisc, the one made by CMC are good, the open/close font on top of spindle (old package) can tell you who made them...Roman fonts are made by CMC. Not sure about the newer package...I have no problem with Made in Taiwan Verbatim...too bad all my Japanese made DVD are +R...I have some value line Taiyo Yuden but their quality is not as good as CMC made Verbatim.
