Exclamation Help, How to tell if a Wii game is SL or DL?

I have one question that I couldnít find an answer to. I unfortunently donít have one of those special LG drives to make my backups, USB Loader GX makes fake/corrupted 1 of 1 backups (all iso turns out as 9GB) so I have decide to used the following Superdumper1.3 via USB HDD and cIOS-DVD-Dumper_v1.3 Via Wifi

Both of the above apps ask if the disc is DL or SL? How do I find this out?

The two wii disc database donít have this game in the list RS2P41 pal

    Let me know

    Thanks

What game is it? There are only about 2 maybe 3 games that are DL. Super Smash Bros is one, and I can't remember the rest. (Some one feel free to swoop in here with the others.) I would update your usbloader GX and give it another go. Or try another loader like wiiflow. Even the old usbloader v1.5 can rip to usb. I used that for a very long time.

Out of curiosity have you tried Wiiflow to back up your games onto HD? It is VERY easy and ONLY takes the data of the game and not the rest of rubbish data on the dvd that takes up the rest of the 4.7 GB disc.

Hope this helps out in some way

See thatís the problem, all of the USB loader tools are great if your planning to play them of off the HDD however if you want to make a exact 1 of 1 back up on a Disc these fail

Issue 1464 - usbloader-gui - Install Partition setting + install 1:1 = YES results in Huge ISO when moving from WBFS drive - Project Hosting on Google Code

Also there is some corruption issues too.

I think all of the following are DL Usbloader GX newest BETA outputted a 9GB file for these

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers

    Red Steel 2

And a few others, I think all newer wii games are by default on DL disc like the x360 maybe because its harder to burn on these, look at all the issues that SSBB had, let me know if these are DL

I think that Metroid compilation disc was another DL game, apart from that there was also a Japanese game.

RS2 is NOT a DL and neither is FFCC:TCC. It's alot more expensive for Nintendo to press DL discs than SL discs and besides it's quite well known that the Wii DVD drive is a little sucky at reading the dual layers anyway.

Its really quite stupid, of these two utility, when I selected DVD9 DL and dumped RS2 the iso outputted was 7.92 GB (8,511,160,320 bytes), what did the tool do read the same layer twice?

I then dumped RS2 again but this time as SL and it dumped with no errors as DVD5 SL???

Is there a wii based tool that can read the disc TOC to find the size of the disc?
Somewhat like what windows does in My Computer, when a disc is inserted, does wii-explorer provide this info?

    Thanks for the help

    No idea.

As we stated only 2 normal games have DL discs so just select SL unless you are ripping SSBB or Metroid trilogy. More may come in future but that's all there is for now.

The ripping utility must add rubbish data to pad the ISO up to the size you specify.
