The following drives are the only known drives that can read Wii discs

    Hitachi LG GDR-8161b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-8162b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-8163b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-8164b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-H10NBLK (SATA)
Hitachi LG GDR-8082N - USB SLIM Portable Drive

So if the one you are fererring to is the GDR-8082N then Yes it will work

I have been looking at that one and had the same question, so asked them waiting on a reply. I will post the model # on that drive as soon as the get back to me.

FWIW: Lots of the GDR-8082N slim laptop drives have been rebadged, i.e. IBM, DELL, etc. so if you find out the model no. the rebadgers use then you might have a wider array of drives to get hold of ... but make sure the underlying model no. is still GDR-8082N.

    Hitachi LG GDR-H10NBLK (SATA)

I see this drive is on the list of confirmed working, just wondering why this SATA drive is so much cheaper than the IDE 816X drives on megaloot??
