wum and brickblocker claims same version as my wii, should i run the update?

So Topspin and Mario Kart claim that I need an upgrade, yet I am running 3.3U on my NTSC WII. Brickblocker and WUM both say that my ISO's are NTSC. I am getting the black screen with Mario Kart, and I have read places it's because the WII doesn't have the update that's in the ISO (since I ran Mario Kart through BrickBlocker)

Is it safe to run this update, and is it going to fix my black screen problem?

I should mention that topspin seems to run fine after brickblocker.

Thanks,
-J

I am having the same problem as you (as well as with a few other games). curious to see if you do use the update if it works, this is what I am reading the fix is ,of course i am scared to do the mario kart update (also always run through brick blocker). I am running 3.2 firmware though as I have read not to update to 3.3 .

You may want to check with wiu1.1 as well. It could be that they are non-NTSC-U but region patched games with the update still on the disc. If you are already on 3.3 then it shouldn't be asking for update.

It is safe to update to 3.3 either from the Wii Settings or from a game that is the same region as your wii (Not a region patched game).

How do I tell if it's an orig or a region patched ISO with WIU1.1
This is the info it gives me.

Game Title: MarioKartWii
RegionID: 01 NTSC/USA
Make Code: 01
Game ID: RMCE
Update: UPEy Firmware unknown

What I have seen is on the bottom right section it would say something list "Already Patched PAL > NTSC/USA"

Its a good idea to patch (remove) the Update from the iso.

Yea, I don't see anything like that using WIU1.1. However WUM says the firmware on the ISO is 3.1U_v3. I did try removing the firmware already and I get the black screen. From my research so far it's bacause of the update being removed. WUM claims this is a NTSC_USA firmware so I am pretty certain it's going to be safe.

yep... it works. Here is how to solve the black screen issue.

My Wii is a USA NTSC model upgraded to 3.3U. I confirmed with WUM that the iso I had was an NTSC_USA firmware lower than 3.3U (WUM said it was 3.1U) Since I knew that the firmwares were the same region for the same version of WII, and that I had a newer firmware than on the disk, I elected to say OK to the upgrade figuring it wouldn't really upgrade anything.

I was right, the Wii is fine, and the Mario Kart backup works great. So i have no idea why the brickblocked iso wouldn't work, but this is a solution for those having similar issues.
