Hi Harl,
I too have the LG 8162b drive and run rawdump 2.0 and friidump on winxp pro pc
done wii sports as my 1st disc and have done many others without a problem.
Not sure what your problem can be, but i use friidump when only rawdump struggles with a disc. Ive heard rumors about rentals having labels on disc making them unbalanced but is that a myth??.

Hope you sort out your problem and happy burning.....Tony

Also, both of you may want to compare the Drives firmware versions as that may matter.

The other options for backing up is to use USB Gecko (~$50) or use the Homebrew application DVD Dumper 1.2 (Free) which can dump DVD image from Wii to either SD, USB Mass Storage or to PC via WiFi but you do need to have homebrew channel.
