You don't need the Twilight Hack to play backups of games. The Twilight Hack is for installing Homebrew applications, VC and WiiWare games. The only thing you need is a mod chip. In fact if you have not updated the firmware to 3.3 you don't even have to run the Twilight hack to install the Homebrew Channel you can just use the Homebrew Channel installer ISO disc.

If you had somebody install the mod chip for you and are fairly certain it is installed correctly it is more than likely media and software you are using is the problem.

Make sure you are using recommended media (Verbatim 16x DVD -R works every time for me and I have had good success with TDK 16x DVD -R) and are using ImgBurn running between 4x to 6x when burning the ISO's. Also make sure nothing else is running while you are doing your burns. Some computers can be picky and will mess up the burn if other applications are running at the same time.

If you are still having an issue then there might be something up with the how the chip was installed or the chip itself.

As far as telling what code is on you downloaded backup of Zelda I am not sure if there is a way to tell unless the info was included with the download links. If you don’t have 3.3 firmware installed I would highly recommend using the Homebrew Channel installer ISO rather than the Zelda TP hack to install the Homebrew channel. Personally I would get backup games working before attempting to mess with any Homebrew software.
