Exclamation New Wii With -R Disks?

Hey all, am new to the site and have installed Homebrew on my new Wii today, I have been told that the new drives have a different drive which means they no longer play DVD's as backups and it will need to be done via USB HDD.

Is this true, as I have a batch of DVD-R and was going to see if I had installed Homebrew successfully instead of buying an external HDD and it not working.

Also do I just go to the disk channel to launch the game or do I have to do anything else, I followed the tut 3.1 to 4.1 which was posted on this site.

    Thanks for all your help

I found a file in the 3.1 to 4.1 tut and just downloading now it says that it will allow DVDR's to be played on all Wiis, is it worth installing or not?

Although the wii you have is new out of the box, it may have been sitting in a warehouse for some time. It may not have the new drive.
Install cios rev 14 (google), make folder called apps and put it in there. Then install through homebrew (remember to have internet connected first)
Install Neogamma R7 (google) Put it in WAD folder, download WAD manager and install in apps folder. Through homebrew click on WAD mananger and install Neogamma.

Use Neogamma to try launch game. IF does not work u are gonna have to use usb loading. Which is a lot better anyway.
Use neogamm R7 to launch the discs.

How do I launch games with Neogamma?

I already have those files installed that you said in the above post, but have seen cIOSCORP_v3.5, what does this do and it states works on all Wiis?

I will be getting the USB HDD so is there anything else needed to install this, I know it has to be formatted and have 2 seperate partions.

Sorry for all the questions but new to the Wii scene and don't want anything to go wrong

cioscorp allows launching copied discs from original disc channel. However used incorrectly can brick your wii.
With neogamma just put disc in, launch neogamma and press A to launch game.
If it gives you an error get back to us.
Regarding the HD you need a program called WBFS mananger. If its just a 500gb HD just use the format button on WBFS manager to format the drive. If its a bigger drive you are going to have to partition it.
Once HD is formated load the drive in WBFS and add iso files using the same program.
You then need to install a USB program on your wii, my favourite is configurable usb loader. There are others available, try youtube to watch demo of different loaders.
Once you have installed the loader and got games on your drive, plug the HD into the bottom usb on wii. Launch usb loader and bingo!!
Rememeber you will need cios rev 14 installed.

if youve followed the http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html guide you will already have neogamma as a channel on your wii if not you need to go back to the guide and follow it exactly, this part "d) In the Priiloader menu select Homebrew Channel (if you didn't install Priiloader then just open HBC as normal), run Wad Manager 1.4, use default settings (IOS249 & SD card) and install these wads from the 'wad' folder:

    IOS38-64-v3610
    IOS50-64-v4889
    IOS53-64-v5149
    IOS55-64-v5149
    NeoGamma r8b7

    Then restart your Wii.""
