DVD -R or DVD +R which is best?

I've kind of already answered my own question i think but i thought i'd throw it out there anyway.

I used to burn on +R discs and never had a problem then i bought some -R discs and occasionally i get the old disc cannot be read error. Is it better to burn to +R for Wii?

I thought i read somewhere that it is as apparently Wii discs are based on +R but thought i'd ask for opinions on it.

Also my disc drive seems to only allow a minimum speed of 6x on single layer discs (even when i use ImgBurn and select 2x) is there a way to force the drive to write slower?

if you look in the disc info window on the right side of the imgburn front splash.....scroll down and you will see all the info about your dvd media....
chances are you dvd brand of dvd does not support 2 or 4 X

I always figured that only the Max speed was capped, although i've burnt a few again tonight on + discs tonight and they work flawlessly - guess i'll just stick with my DVD + Rs.

I'm having some problems with HP DVD+R DL. I'll be trying Matrix DVD+R DL later today and report back.

I've been using Verbatim DVD+R (I'll double check this) and have had no problems with them at all. So I'll stick with those until they fail

And about the burner speed, I'd check the manufacturer's manual, but that's weird, I don't know why they'd want to limit the speed... Have you tried alcohol 120% or nero?

OK.....this looks like the post to find my answer! I am using Memorex DVD+R's in IMGBurn at 2x speed. I have Twilighted and downgraded to 3.2U and am currently using the gamma loader. I have an ISO of a game and have patched the ISO with WiU 1.1. When I try to load it a black screen appears while the disk spins in what I would describe as a check read loop. Any suggs are appreciated as I am going through DVD+R's like water here!!

    Thanks in advance

try booting your game with gamma loader or gecko os,

If they don't work, try the dvd-rs
