    Black screen lately..... help??

I installed a Wiikey2 chip just over a year ago and it's never given me any grief. I've backed up approx 40 games on assorted media (DVD-R) with no problems. My unit has never been on line or had a retail disk in it.. My problem is the last few games that I have burned show up fine on the menu but when I select the game the screen goes black.
So all my older backed up games are fine but the ones I'm burning now won't work.
I've spend about three hours searching and reading through these forums. There is a ton of knowlege here! From what I can gather I need to update???
I have no intrest in playing online or running homebrew.
So my question is, what is my best/easiest option to get back up and running with DVD-R media?

Thanks in advance for your help!

sounds like you are missing the pescky critters known as ios...

i think the only way to load ios is through homebrew...

Theres nothing wrong with having hard and softmod... i use both and have Cios38 rev14, then ios 38,53,55,56 all loaded up... works great on 3.2

    I think it's actually a d2pro if that makes a differance.........

If I am able to attach a flat cable or mini usb drive to the chip (I'd have to crack it open because I can't remember what it has) wouldn't it be easier to just download the updates from d2pro and update the chip? What about renting a newer game? Beatles rock band, G-Force, and updating off the disk????

You can just bannerbomb wadmanager and install the necessary ios, or update from a newer disk in your region- but make sure it does not have 4.2 as you'll lose region free.

If I lose region free that means I can't download any PAL games? Even if I change the region with Wui1.1? How do I know what version of update a newer game has?
Sorry for all the questions but I've never updated my Wii.
Thanks for the fast and easy to understand answers!!

Seeing how 4.2 was only released a few months ago. I would go with a game that was released around probably march of this year.
Come to the Irc room to get help or just have fun

Ok, I'll pick one up tomorrow and see what happens. I'll post my results.
So what about If I lose region free that means I can't download any PAL games? Even if I change the region with Wui1.1?

4.2 breaks regionfree until new firmware fixes it. So no out of region games if you load with chip on 4.2.

Have a look over this thread to determine which games have what updates. http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-use-run.html

Any game that has 3.4 will usually come with updated IOS38, 53 and 55.

New Super Mario Bros should come with the newer version IOS53 and IOS55 even though it uses only IOS53.

Pretend musical games tend to require IOS56, so if you want to play those you'll need to update using one.

Sounds like your d2pro/wiikey is blocking ALL updates. It might also be worth looking at the configuration menu for the chip and modifying it's update policy. e.g. My Wiikey2 blocks out-of-region updates but allows normal updates from my region.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.
