Smile First post...newb needs some help wiht burn options

Hi guys... i love this forum..too much other crap out there then I found this and thought, "duh" why didnt I search for this first...

Anyway I will have the mod done when I get home and have a few burn questions for you...

1. Not knowing if my drive will work or not to burn yet since its a Sony, when people are taking about wii dumping and over using the laser, are they referring to wifi dumping or to an external usb?

2. Referring back to my first question....what is the best way to accomplish playback of games that are DL and to store them....I would just like to have an external usb drive, but if I do that do I wii dump them directly to it or do I have to transfer it to my PC then copy to usb then sync to wii? I might as well burn them then....but id love to use the usb....options?

Thanks!! love this forum

any pc drive can burn an iso to a DVD-R to play on your Wii. Its specific drives that are required to dump the games.

USB is king! With a usb drive, you can rip games straight from the Wii to your usb HDD. It takes from 45seconds to about 20 minutes.

You can also use WBFS manager on your pc to transfer downloaded ISO files directly to your USB HDD.

DL games play fine from a HDD (may need a little fiddling with settings), they can also beburnt to Dual layer DVD's.

Thanks Dave!! couple follow ups if I could....

1. So its only an issue of all the LG things Im heaing if your going from Wii wifi to pd to burn? (dump)

2. So going USB is great if you dont want the discs laying around...especially if they are DL size then why waste the money to buy them...but i was reading that you cant use DL discs becasue HBC or whatever it is ill use isnt compatible yet..

Thanks again

its only an issue if you want to dump discs with the drive on your PC, which is painfully slow and not something that anyone really does anymore.

DL games work fine, its just a change of a few settings really (cIOS38rev14 isnt great with its support of DL discs, thos games that do stuggle, SSBB in particualr works fine with the hermes cios 222/223)
