USB Loader GX
Forgive me... up front. :-)
I've read so many pages on this topic... and watched what feels like hundreds of youtube videos. I think I've over researched the topic.
I have a 4.0U Wii... and not one of the newer 64-65 models. It is modded with a Drivekey and can play backed up games, no prob. I have The Homebrew Channel installed and can load apps at will.
Now, my question.
I want to have an external HD for disc backup. To use USB Loader, do I need to follow everything on this link:
How to Store/Load Wii Games via USB Hard Drive on System Menu 4.0 [Slick Tricks Part 2]
...or does the mod chip help eliminate some steps?
I already have everything ready, to follow those steps neways... I just don't want to do more than I need to do.
Can I just load USB Loader from the Homebrew Channel, as is... without needing the cIOS mods and such?
Thanks. I do apologize, I'm sure these things get repetitive. I did do quite a bit of research however... just never found a definite answer.
The only way you wouldn't need to follow any of those steps is if you already have HBC installed. If you do, you just skip the first step or two of using bannerbomb to install it. Other than that, that $50 modchip you bought does absolutely nothing at all for what you want to do now.
You will need to do everything someone w/o a modchip has to do to get usb loading.
Thanks. Some of the stuff I saw online had people loading up USB Loader without doing all the cIOS stuff.
I reckon those peeps already had it loaded... and didn't need the extra steps.
I figured the Drivekey was worthless in this process, but thought I'd ask. No biggy, it still does what I wanted it to do.
Thanks again. I guess I'll just follow the steps.
That guide should be easy enough. If you run into any problems just post away in one of the softmod-centric sections.
I just noticed your sig line.
"Install IOS 37, 38, 53, and 55 before asking questions"
Should I go ahead and load up 37, 53, and 55 with the 38 that's required for the USB Loader? Will it save me time later?
You being on 4.0 and having not been afraid of updates, you should already have them. Plus, if it was an issue, you would've discovered it by now. They are IOS's used by games themselves, not by homebrew apps/loadres.
Gotcha. That helps.
I'll try this out tonite and see what happens.
