I got some Verbatim DVD-R and I have a Wii that's soft modded. What do you guys recommend? I heard that the updates on the games will ruin the soft mod. Do I use Starfall or Preloader to get rid of the update on the game before burning it?

starfall only works on 3.2 firmware. Download "wiibrickblocker" and use that on all the games you will be burning to a dvd.

If you have preloader why don't you just ENABLE the "skip disc update check" option under preloaders system menu hacks? That's the easiest way to prevent disc upates from bricking you. If you don't have ur wii set up to boot to preloader when you turn it on. just hold down the reset button while turning ur wii on and it'll boot to preloader. oh and doing this, you're not actually getting rid of the update on the disc, you're making ur wii skip reading that part of the disc. so much easier than patching and removing stuff from the disc. that's the old skool way. lol no longer necessary!!!! are you gonna be burning backups of your games, since you mention having verbatim dvd-r discs I assume you are.

Preloader works great,just set it to Enable skip disc updates and off you go.

I have found cheaper DVD's no not work as well as sony and verbatim.I've wasted quite a dvd's like the LG dvd's seems to work great for me.

Going the USB route too many disc piling up.

I just softmodded my wii w/ bannerbomb. i have 4.0. hombrew channel and homebrew disc loader. i made my backup with rawdump 2.0 to dump and imgburn to burn the ISO. i get an error loading the disk. any reccomendations??? thank you. WII ON!!! AND dvdx wont install!!!

whiskey, I can't really help you as I don't really understand all of the ios and cios stuff..... maybe post what error it gives you and somebody can help. since you're using rawdump, I assume you bought one of the lg dvd-rom drives to read the wii discs to you're pc correct?

WhiskeyWii - First bannerbomb is the exploit for loading the hacked software so what other software have you loaded i.e Preloader,CIOS ver? etc.

I've not used homebrew disc loader i use preloader but with some of my DVD's i get a read error i find SoftChip or NeoGamma will run.

Also when burning your games to disc, you probably know but it is important burn a 2x.

use super dump for making backups, takes less than 30mins for wii game. check other thread!

I assume this is for usb correct? not reading from an lg drive for backup?
