Black Screen for games using DriveKey Pal v4.00 What causes the black screen error?
ive had a few problems with it lately, and ive always just let it slide and thought it was my bad luck and then i'd get another copy elsewhere, but now im just a bit annoyed.
today, i got a copy of Cooking Mama World Kitchen (compressed) NTSC and i burnt it using imgburn @ 4x Verbatim DVD-R and it showed up in disc channel, but didnt play on my PAL DriveKey modded v4 wii. only gave me a black screen and froze.
then i tred to use WIU and patched it to PAL mode and burnt it again. this time, disc channel showed that i needed to update, but obviously i didnt since its a NTSC game and ive got a PAL machine.
so i turned my wii off and changed my DriveKey settings to block ALL updates (not just imports) and i see the game picture again in disc channel. Click, and i got another black screen.
What should i do? Anything i can do to fix it? it is because it is a compressed game?
my wii only has the drivekey mod and nothing else. no homebrew, nothing.

i dont have homebrew or anything like that as i upgraded my wii straight to v4 from the factory firmware with no modifications
also, waht are missing IOS files? im not using soft mods or anything.
should i patch the game somehow in another way? would it help if i brickblocked it?
I'm having the same problem. Tried Gold's Gym Cardio Workout and I'm getting the blackscreen. The game originally asked for a system update so I tried the brickblocker and I thought this worked since the game showed up on the channel, but once I click on it, I get the black screen. I'm using a DriveKey in my Wii.
if you dont have any HB and your on 4.0 I wouldnt think your missing any ios files. Mabey it was just back luck and found a bad copy. Im not to sure about drivekey but with my wiikey2 I had to have a 1:1 copy of the game for it to work properly.
Got my game to work...i let the wii upgrade to 4.0 and everything works now.
