Error 10056 using Wii DVD Dumper V1.3

    Hi Everyone,
I followed the softmodding for dummies V2.3 and have the homebrew channel and backup launcher installed on V3.4U and both work fine. I tried a backup copy of a game (PAL forced NTSC) and it worked. Step 9 of the instructions explain how to use DVD Dumper...which after several hours of thinking I did something wrong during the install, I realized it wasn't installed automatically (I'm a newbie). I downloaded version 1.3 from Waninkokos site ensured it was boot.dol copied into apps folder and ran the application. I want to dump wifi and I set up wifi, single layer, etc., everything is working, ie network initialized OK, and I get my ip address (192.168.2.4) type it in the address of IE, FF, and Safari and nothing. I get 10056 error on the Wii. I read and searched for 12 hours on internet with no luck. The only hope I had was using the IOS37-64-v2070.wad on the root of the SD card (I have a 32MB and 2GB with the same files) and Custom IOS Installer in the apps folder using the instructions included from Waninkoko. I run Custom IOS Installer and get error 2011. Do I have to remove anything before I install the IOS37-64-v2070.wad with Custom IOS Installer? All I have installed is ios16.wad using Wad Manager, cIOS249-IOS36-rev07.wad and BackupLauncher_03g_Wiiish_v2_EN.wad using Wad Manager for IOS16. Also DVDX for V3.4 from the homebrew channel. I am going crazy trying to find a solution to this problem. I would appreciate any links or suggestions, I'm still willing to read if you have any good links, but I have read every thread searched of "Wii DVD Dumper 1.3 Waninkoko error 10056 etc., etc,." that I think it might be as simple as it won't dump because its system 3.4U. I tried to a 1GB USB Drive (FAT32) but it wouldn't mount. I started to dump to SD, it looked like it was working properly but seem to be going to slow that it would take a week (LOL) to do it, so I quit the application. Thanks for any input.

Hi. Sorry I can't offer any help just wanted you to know I feel your pain. FWIW, I have downgraded my system to the 3.2 firmware and I am having the same issue. I thought it might be a network issue and have nothing to do w/ the install, but I don't know enough about this stuff to troubleshoot it myself.

What would be good to know is -
At what point would DVD Dumper fail if the custom IOS was not installed properly?
Can the Wii's network settings (SSID, encryption method, etc...) keep it from serving up the webpage?
Do I have to create the www directory on the root of the sd card and put index.htm in there, or does dvd dumper do this for you?

I have basically done what you described a dozen or so times, with the same result so I'll keep my eye on this thread, keep playing w/ it, and keep reading. If I come up w/ anything I'll let you know.

    Good Luck!

If you plan to use the latest Wii Firmware or are using 3.3Xv2 / 3.4X, you will find you will be unable to install WADs and some Homebrew Apps will not work correctly (such as Any Region Changer and Firmware Downgrader). Downgrade to 3.2

    ret=-2011 WAD file

    1) With 3.3v1 or v2 update

Well I don't say this very often but I'm giving up on it. I can dump an image successfully to the SD card, so I have to assume everything is installed correctly. Still can't get the webpage to load using either DVD Dumper or wiihttpd (I too am still getting error 10056 on the wii). This after basically removing everything I could and starting over for the upteenth time. I wouldn't mind if the SD dump wasn't so painfully slow, but I guess I'll learn to live w/ it until someone can explain what the 10056 error stems from. I still think it's a network issue since the program works fine dumping to SD, but at this point I'm out of ideas.

    1. Restart/Reboot your router!

    2. Check to see that the Wii can to connect to the Internet! If it can't try and change the broadcast channel in the router to either 3, 6, or 11.

    3. If the above solutions do not work for you chances are you have a Linksys
Router from the Model Seriers/Family WRT54XXXX= Family Model!
This line/family of routers has known problems that Linksys has refused to
address/fix.. and is the cause of a lot of woes with P2P programs, the Wii DVD
Dumper and the Downgraders. To solve this problem you can either get a
new router or look into installing the custom router firmware: DD-WRT .
Have you used the search function ? used the Tutorial section ?

I tried version 1.2...it looked like it was working! My son closed the window down at 25% LOL. I'm going to try again and post my results. I created a folder in the same folder as cIOS-DVD-Dumper_v1.2 on my SD card called www. I don't know if this is necessary but I did. Also is worked with version 6 of internet explorer and firefox. Thanks so much for the post! I never would have thought of trying version 1.2!

    Hi Everyone,
Successfully dumped 8 single layer Wii games using 1.2. Thanks everyone for your help. Getting up to 577k, games finish in about 2 hours 20 minutes. Wicked awesome!

I have had no problems with the dvd dumper through my wifi connection. I have dumped 5 games so far I am on 3.2u downgraded and I have the backup channel working fine as well a soft mii. All working beautifully... I would agree that it I something to do with your home network configuration. I also use firefox to dump. I do have a question... What is the speed abd consistency of backups dumped ta n external hard drive?
