I personaly just picked up me a lightscribe burner by samsung. Very stable.

I had a sony dvd burner and it was not as stable.

Well the media's I used today was hp lightscibe dvd+r. I had the option to burn up to 18x on this disk but I choose 8x and worked great

The worst disk I have used are CompUSA brand dvd-r only lets me have the option of burning at 2x. I would stay away from generic disk.

I have also used TDK Disk, DVD-R worked good but it did not want to go faster then 8x I choose to go 4x.

So anyways I would like to know yall's experience also. Share!

    My blank media experiences

I recently modded my Wii and I thought I'd post my experiences with blank media. I have a NTSC (US) Wii (purchased on the day the Wii debuted) modded with a Wiikey. Here is a list of which media worked for me and which didn't. I burned the images with a Samsung Litescribe DVD+/-RW 18X burner.

    Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 18X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 18X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache IDE DVD Burner with LightScribe and Software - OEM

    Did NOT Work:
    Imation DVD-R 16X (burned at 2-4x)
    Dynex DVD-R 16X (burned at 1-6x)
    Verbatim DVD-RW 8X (burned at 1-8x)

    Did Work:
    FujiFilm DVD-R 16X (burned at 1-8x)
    Sony DVD-R 16X (burned at 1-8x)

I've heard Taiyo Yuden discs are great but I didn't want to buy a pack of 25 and find out they didn't work on my particular Wii. I've heard each Wii is different and you just have to keep trying media until you find one that works. Then you just stick with it

Hope this helps someone out there.

ok just wanted to add some more info on my system and disk I been using.'

My wii is a second version Wii with the three IC legs missing. It's modded with a Offical WiiKey. Also my burner is a Samsung 18x Lightscribe

I have disk on the following formats.
    Comp-USA DVD-R (Junk) but works
    Verbatim DVD-R No problems
    Plexo DVD-R no problems

HP Lightscribe DVD+R awesome disk burned fast and plays well
TDK Lightscribe DVD+R good disk I can't tell the difference in the HP's

I have not run across a disk that did not work in my Wii to date. Though I am most likely gonna stick with lightscibe disk from here on out.

PS: Great place to buy disk is the flea market. A pack of 50 lightscibe DVD's cost me $5.
Wii d2b - Transparent Blue ii-Case with LED mod, Offical WiiKey
NDS Lite - Transparent Green Ghost Case
XBOX 360 Elite - unmodded for xb live
XBOX 360 Custom Ferrari Red - iXtream 1.4 firmware

Personally i use Ridisc Xtreme 4.7Gb DVD-R (Red) discs which i have burnt ~20 games on at a speed of 8x on some crappy sony dvd rewriter all flawlessly. Everyone says to burn at low speeds of around 2x however, this seems a little silly having to wait longer for no apparent benefits.

What I have done is just bought cheapass dvd-r and tried them out. I can get them for 5 bucks a 50 spindle sometimes so if they don;t work for that they are always good for other random shit.

Looks like they now do the same Ridisc xtreme discs with burning speeds of 16x for the win.

    16x Ridisc Xtreme Ritek AAA+ DVD-R 25 pack*::*DVD-R*::*UKDVDR Ltd

Ive not tested these out yet but i am going to place an order for some when i run out of the 8x discs. People in the Uk can get a box of 25 for £3.25 from this site inc Vat. if you buy two boxs it works out at 20p a disc including the postage costs which guarantee a next working day delivery. not bad eh considering ridisc are top brand which wont bugger up your wii lens like the cheap nasty discs are thought to do.

A word of caution, it is not so much the brand of media that will mess up your lense as it is the write spead... you are correct about brand to a certain degree however the faster you burn a disc the more 'errors' you will see and the harder the laser has to work.
