Questions for burning DVD file disc for WiiMC

    Hello,

I have been scouring the everywhere for about almost 2 weeks now for answers what I am trying to do. Please forgive me if the answers were right in my face. I am only asking because I haven't been able to do what I am trying to do.

I have recently surprised my little sister by soft-modding her Wii so we both can enjoy the games of my childhood and now I want to know if it is possible to use WiiMC to play AVI files (or any other non-DVD files) off of a DVD-R? I have tried to using IMGBurn, but I received error message after error message when trying to get them to play on her Wii. I have had success playing, as a test, my menu-stripped backup copies of my movies with no problem. But, I would like to know if this is possible, is there a tutorial I have missed that I can read to know what settings I should be using, and does a file DVD have to be DVD-R (I want to know that before I go out to buy more DVD-Rs.)?

Any help and/or tips on what I might be doing wrong with my burning. Thank you.

If your system is newer (2009 or more recent), then it cannot read burned disks or standard movie DVDs.

If it's an older system, it should work, but still makes for a horrible DVD player.

Well I have already determined from wiidrives.com its a 2006 Model, and I know it plays my DVD-R movies. What I want to know if WiiMC will play video files burned onto a disc (AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, MKV, etc) and if so, is there a method of correctly burning them to the disc? Because so far I have not been successful at getting WiiMC to read to disc at all.
