I have read and talked to other people..9x's out of 10, the person that was having their Wii fixed used +r's. However, what if, that person was like me and got tired of -r coasters and went with +r's. How many licks to the center of a tootsie roll pop?? Unless your gonna hook up an O-Scope to the drive and monitor from one side of the disc read to the other..there's no real way of knowing how the laser reacts to any media. That is FACT and I have years of electrical technology under my belt (not tearing apart something cause I seen it on youtube..however, I am also guilty of that too ;-/).

I wish I could get -r's to work for me..I have a butt load of them!!!!
lol, as electrically inexperienced as i am, i can tell you that 9/10 of the people that i talk to say that 9/10 of their problems were solved with -R...

each wii responds differently, but it seems that so far more of them accept -R's

I used jvc DVD+r discs to make backups of legend of zelda and pokemon battle revolution. I have investigated verbatim DVD r disks and decided I am going that route. I just want to know will the video quality of games or movies be improved if I use verb over jvc? Will dvd movies look better on verb-r disks than than on jvc +r disks

I don't think that the video quality will be improved, but the disc read speed will be better and it will cause less strain to your wii.

yes it is. but you're going to run into a lot of problems with -R. Dual layer -R that is, normally -R works better.

For brawl, you need to set a custom layer break, and you can only do that on +R dual layer discs. So if you burn it on -R you will get error #001.

To fix that, you will need to patch the 001 fix. And that means that you will need to be on system menu 3.2 or under to play patched/trucha signed games.

And to patch it will take you a while - try reading through this:

PPF patching & the #001 error

You need Generic Wii Patcher (aka Bailli Tool) for that. There might be an easier-to-use patcher but I am not aware of it. Read thoroughly before asking more questions.

PS I am aware that the link leads to something to patch the mario kart thing, but the patching part applies to all isos. You don't need to follow the steps on there - just learn how to extract main.dol, patch it with Generic Wii Patcher, replace main.dol and trucha sign the partition.

Found a store that has cheap verbatim dvds. Unfortunatley they're closed for passover. For a while. April 8th thru Thursday, April 16th. Kind of a long break for something like that but whatever I guess.

    Anyway.

I just got a stack of 100 verbatim DVD-Rs for 26.50 plus shipping. Here's the address.

    thanks for the help.

i've been looking all over the google for the answer to my wii burn discs problem. i've checked several forums on different sites and spent money on things as they suggested to no avail. then i find this place today, spend half the day reading post and taking notes in my notebook and find what i need and it worked.

(too bad i didn't find it 2 weeks and about 30 dvd's ago but no matter.)

    Hi everyone ,

I've read through this topic some. But would you guys know if Memorex DVD+R DL would work ok with my LU64 Wii? The only game I need to use one on is, Super Smash Bros Brawl. I got a 10 Pack from Radio Shack for $9.99.
