apparantly the wii is VERY picky with its discs but personally, i havn't had a problem yet with TDK and memorex, even though memorex is said to be one of the worst brands

bad discs (like memorex) MAY or may not work, but even if they it is said that they will shorten the life of the wii's laser. if you are worried, it might be better to use verbatims.

if you hear loud clicking noises or you hear the wii straining, switch discs

    Lightbulb

Hello all, just want say that even thought Memorex discs are not recommended i've used 16x dvd-r's burning (with my Pioneer DVR-110D & LG GSA-H55N) at 1x without glitches and a minimal amount of opened apps.

My ripping source is a GDR5163 which i got for 50 bucks, now i've been playing with new Ridata 16x discs i just got them this week a 100 spindle for $24.00 bucks at my local Asian computer shop, anyway i've been burning these babies at 1x too, and so far so good no issues at all.

    Ugh, this is getting annoying.
First, I got a pack of Imation disks DVD-R.
I burned ToS2 on one of them and it ran nicely the first time then the second time I wanted to play it, it just couldn't read anymore. After a while I try again, it works! Okay, so maybe the disks were of low quality or something.
I went and got a pack of Verbatim disks DVD-R.
I burned ToS2 again and it didn't work at all.
I heard Verbatims are better so what is this?
Could I have gotten fake Verbatims or perhaps those of low quality?
If so, what do the real/high quality ones look like so I don't make the same mistake again.

DVD+r's burn good games in Apple Macbook

Just wanting to add my experiences to the thread for others who may come across similar issues

DVD+Rs never worked for mee...I was burning them with many programs (mostly imgburn) on a PC with a DVR-111d.

I switched to DVD-R Maxells. Perfect (well, a tad slow, but working). I also burned a few on horrid memorex DVD-rs. Work just as well.

Now I stared at this huge spindle of Verbatim DVD+rs (they were free, I despise them, would never pay for a +r, I'm a hater on HP and Sony). ANYWAY, I decided to try burning them on my Macbook Pro's Matshita Superdrive with Toast, which by default marks the booktype as DVD-Rom, NOT DVD+R. WALLA, perfect. Well, they work just as well as the DVD-rs now.

Just thought I'd share that...It may help some other Macbook useres out there, and I can't barely afford food (or more importantly beer) lately, so I was glad to see this spindle of DVD+rs not go to waste!

I been using Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8x so far without issue.
I use them for everything, the best brand money can buy.

I get them from www.rima.com 100 disk spindels.

I seem to be having a problem loading disks, I use gecko and have even tried wiigator and I've only just installed home grown and cios yesterday. Everytime I click load game it says no dvd and I've tried on several different games and I know these games work on other wiis. What am I doing wrong? I've only got phillips dvd+rs atm...
