I have found that the type of DVD isn't the issue, it's the actual burner. My Wii will not read any DVD-R's at all burned with my burner. It will only read one specific brand of DVD+RW. It will, however, read any DVD-R burned with my buddy's burner. You will have to try many different brands/types of DVD until you find one that works.

cool, thanks for the info. i'll try a few. i'm using TDK.
it'll reconize it as a wii game but then goes to a black or white screen and says "wii disc can't be read, refer to wii operation manual"
i'll try a few more discs with my burner. (however, my friend uses the same disc as i do and they work; is it a compatibility issue with the discs and the dvd burner?)

I use Memorix dvd-r to burn games n my wii. I also used some Chinese brand dvd-r but they were 8.5 and Im not wasting 8.5g blank dvd's but they do work.
Also used my roomates dvd R+ as well and they worked in my wii also .. I listen to the folks on here and use dvd-r but the +'s do work perrty well also

Hi all. I can go on the record saying that my Ritek, Verbatim, Taito, and Memorex DVD-R media work just fine, all burned at 4x and greater.
I've tried this on numerous games, all downloaded from a torrent, and don't have any problem.
My burner is a Plextor 16x SATA drive that's about four years old.
If you're having problems with games working for the first time, chances are it's another problem, and not your media. Burn at the slowest speed possible to avoid errors and confirm that it works, and then try and burn faster if you're successful..

Yes burn at the higher speed and bid farewell to your drive after a while. pls ignore the last post.

I searched the boards for a while. I found something last night but cant seem to find it again. I used the http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html guide. Worked and thanks was given. As a test I backuped my mari0 tenn!s compressd. Burnt it using a 3x speed (using a dvd-r). Loaded it with gamma but the game is in black and white. Any push in the right direction would be greatly appericated. I am going to try and backup some thing else.
**Edit** NVM I found my answer...force ntsc.
