I can confirm that TDK DVD-R 16X-Speed work when used with Nero Burning software. Burn at 4X speed. 99% of all my back-ups are burnt this way and all work. TDK DVDs are in almost EVERY retail chain that sells blank discs, and usually at a reasonable rate. Hope this helps out!!!

It does not unfortunately. TDK may work but they wear the lens out. And also you can not confirm that they work, you can only state that theuy work for your specific case

Where did you hear that? Who says they wear out the lens?

You are right, however, in saying that it doesn't necessarily help to know that the TDKs work for another user, but probably not for the reasons you state. It doesn't really help because the TDKs that he bought may not be the same ones that someone else buys at another store. Even specific types of DVDs change, and TDK may not even make them. They could very well be Ritek with a TDK label. You can find out for sure by using a program that can read the serial information directly from the DVD, like IMGBURN or going to cdfreaks and finding a program there.

    Best regards,
    Alex

well it is known that each brand has different way of making its DVDs. TDK makes them thicker or sth and they are hard to read. there is a thread that explains that around here, dunno where tho

Sometimes I wonder why I bother posting. Is this better..................?

"I, 420Smilz, can NOT confirm that TDK DVD-R Discs work on a modded Wii system. I can Not confirm this even though 99% of my back-ups are TDK DVD-R and DO WORK. I can NOT tell you if the TDK Discs that I purchase are ,in fact, TDK products, but can only say they have TDK printed onto them. They may, in fact, be a Sony product or a Maxwell product (which by the way, Maxwell DVD-R have worked for me, but I ,again, can NOT confirm that they do in fact work).

What I CAN confirm is that I probably won't bother posting anything else, as far as Media discs or what has or hasn't worked for me. I may NOT be able to confirm that last little bit either...............can I?

you lack scientific explanation my friend, what is needed is a general rule to apply for all wiis. For example, i can tell you that my car uses unleaded, but this wont apply for all cars cos there are many that use petrol. Now if i post here that all cars use unleaded, just because my car uses it what will that be? (you dont have to answer, thats a rhetorical question)

Also eating only junk food can be fine, and it will make you feel fine, satisfy your hunger and all this, and you can now say that you dont have a problem eating it! Yet, 30 years later of eating junk food, you will have cardiac problems, cholesterol and a thousand more problems with your health.
However, eating healthy food will keep your organism healthy and fit for as many years as possible!

If you dont get the metaphor, TDK=junk food, Verbatim = healthy food, Wii= organism....

Dude, what are you talking about?

If you'd like to know the manufacturer of your DVD media, check out this thread:

Download Opti Drive Control, and there is a feature that will tell you what the mfr is of the discs. The Memorex discs I just bought are really made by "CMC MAG AM3".

    Best regards,
    Dave

Sorry I haven't read all of the pages of posts but am I right in thinking some Wii drives are less picky than others?

I burnt around 30 games for my Wii using my DVD+Rs. They all worked flawlessly.

I've now burnt around 25 games for my brothers Wii with the same disks and they haven't worked..
Going to try and get hold of some -Rs tomorrow but is that right about the drives as my brothers Wii is at least a year newer.
