I've softmodded my brand new wii using the following guide Hackjunkie's Blog - Home of the Nintendo Wii Softmod 4.1 and everything seems fine. So I got neogamma7 and cios249rev14. I did do a lot of reading and cannot backup the games I own since I do not have the appropriate LG drive, so I downloaded the iso's from torrent sites. I burned the iso files using Imgburn at 4x and with dvd-r blank dvd's. The 2 dvd-r brands I've tried till now are Philips and Maxell. When I pop em in my wii and use backup loader I get a read error 1101. I did read that verbatim are better, but shouldn't I get at least something else than a read error? What could be the problem?

Sorry to post this here but it finally came down to me thinking its the dvds I'm using, so I'm not really off topic...
This may not be of any help to you, but my wii is model# LU63******** I have followed the guide here in the tutorials section to the letter, and have burnt 16 games from iso's using every brand of disc made, at 16x speed, and have not had one yet that won't play with neogamma7. I don't think it's the disc brand, but maybe you missed a step somewhere in the tut?

I have since transfered all my iso's to an external usb drive, and they work beautifully that way as well with neogamma.

I think the tut you followed is the same, but you should read the one from here just to be sure.

    Good luck!

actually error 1011 is indeed media error. try burning a dvd -r verbatim (although i don't really think that is the deal), if that does not work switch to neogamma r7 and cios249rev10, it seems to do the trick to some people

Nope, followed the guide every step of the way carefully... Tried Verbadim DVD-R at 4x today and still get read error 1101 Used USB drive with the same iso images and they work fine? I've got rev 14 and neogamma7. Could my burner be the problem? I have another external burner and same thing and I use imgburn so I dunno what is wrong.

Thanks guys, all your help is really appreciated! Where can I get cios38rev10 installer? I cannot see it on Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire I know I could google it but rather get it rom a reliable source... Same for neogamma 6 would be great!

P.s. Sorry for double posting... I've asked the same question in another thread...

I dont know about you guys but the from the first time i switched to nero instead of imgburn I haven't had a problem since, though i have purchased some cheap dvd-r's too

Though not having done it personally i would highly recommend using a external drive with the ability to now dump your backups via wifi/usb using your Wii your originals can come out of the box once, slip into your Wii and back into the box again I know the whole leaving your Wii cranking for 3-4 hours blah blah blah but how many of u can say u haven't played a game for at least that long

As for the guy with the 500GB external be a little more specific as to your problem? as most hdd's can be software fixed as long as nothing is physically broken inside and get yourself a copy of WBFS manager it's freeware and does everything you need to put your images onto external hdd's including formatting to WBFS from FAT/NTFS etc

Ok, thanks Messie, I'll continue on the other thread from now on since the media issue doesn't seem to be the problem...
