First off, IOS, cIOS, and System Menu Version are all entirely different things independent of each other, and there is no such thing as "tricking" the Wii into thinking it is on a different System Menu version.

Some games require different IOS to run (if playing from original disc). In Zelda, this is IOS56. When doing an official update from disc, the big N bundles a new system menu version along with the needed IOS. A System Menu update is never actually required to play, only the IOS that the game runs on is. This is why you should always use Priiloader to "block disc update check", and install the needed IOS separately.

When loading backups, your loaders are using cIOS (custom IOS). In the case of Zelda, you need a cIOS built using IOS56 (commonly referred to as a base of 56, i.e 249[56]). If you followed the Softmod ANY Wii guide, you already have all the needed cIOS.

Just an FYI, Wii drives made after mid 2009 will not play backup discs, which is why the black Wii can USB load only. Also, since black Wii consoles are factory shipped with 4.3, they already have all the needed IOS (that bundling thing I mentioned earlier).

I hope this clears up some of the confusion...

Gee, thanks for clearing that... So I guess my only solution to my problem is to load the games via portable HDD then

You are correct, disc loading is out of the question.

If you are usb loading, why not use one of the big 3? GX, CFG or WiiFlow?

I agree with cjizzle, Neogamma is popular because of DVD loading.

    I like USB loader GX

    http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/downloads

A quick google search and you would have found it

And USB loader GX is an app used to launch games from a USB drive.
