    Supercard DSTWO Review !!

    Red_Gh0st's review of the:

    Supercard DSTWO

First flashcard able to emulate GBA, SNES and play NDS games

The first built-in CPU flashcard in the world, the Supercard DSTWO Card for Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi & DSi XL is a high-end slot-1 flash cart solution that allows you to launch games, run applications and play media directly from the device. This flashcard is well updated it has a new update about every month, the flashcard's OS is about 50Mb in space. The official website is very well maintained, I've never had any trouble getting into the website or the downloads.

    DSTWO Features:

iDS Anti-Piracy- bypass any anti-piracy measures
    Slow Motion
Real Time Game Guide and Real Time Save
GBA/SNES emulation- By the SC Team
    Free Cheat
File Management- cut, copy, paste, and delete files directly from the card
    Multi- Language
    eBook Reader
    Multi- Saves

    Contents in DSTWO package:

    One Supercard DSTWO
    One USB Micro SD reader
    One English and Chinese Manual

Compared to other flashcard packages I've seen, this card's package is the nicest and the only one I've seen that comes with a multi- language manual.

    How to setup and use:

The Supercard DSTWO EOS comes with four folders “_dstwo”, “_dstwoplug”, “moonshl2”, and “NDSGBA”. Each folder must be in the root of your Micro SD card.

First, download the OS from here
Second, extract the contents to the root of the Micro SD card
Third, you can now take out the Micro SD from the computer, put it in the DSTWO and insert the card to the Nintendo DS/DSL/DSi/XL

The "_dstwo" folder contains all the system files the card needs. I recommend not messing with these

In the “dstwoplug” you place all the .BMP image and the .Ini files from the different plugins

The “moonshl2” folder contains the Moonshell 2.10 files that you may have seen on another flashcards

The “NDSGBA” contains the files the GBA Emulator needs. Inside the NDSGBA folder there some other folders in the “gamepak” folder you'll place all the GBA roms and .GBA files.

These folders can be a little confusing at first but I bet you'll get the hang of it very fast.

    In-Game Hotkey

This is a very easy to remember hotkey and every feature works like it should.

    Emulators
    GBA, SNES

    DSTWO GBA

    DSTWO GBA emulator plugin

You can't control the GBa emulator menu with the touchscreen. Not much updates for this emulator, the last update was almost 2 months ago. If memory serves this emulator have had three updates. But it has some nice features such as: cheats, ability to take screen snapshots, real-time save, multi-language, video/audio settings.

I haven't had the time to test out much games so I'll only write about the games I've use.

    DSTWO GUI view

    Inside emulator view

    Some GBA Games Compability:

    Dragon Ball GT- Working
    Mario Advanced 4- Working
    Pokemon Emerald- Working
    NHL 2002 - Not Working
Super Mario World (Super Mario Advance 2)- Speed problems
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Working

As you can see NHL 2002 was the only one not playable, it wouldn't even start, I had to reset the system because the emulator crashed.

Super Mario World (Super Mario Advance 2) is playable but has some minor speed issues but it can be played though. I have try with different CPU frequences and different video/audio settings and none have work.

    NDSSFC

SNES emulator only for DSTWO with Real-Time-Save(RTS), Cheats, Screen Snapshot and etc functions.

Just as the GBA Emulator I haven't tested this as much as I would like so I can't talk much about this either. But something I can tell is that you can't control the emulator with the touchscreen, this emulator doesn't get much updates if memory serves this emulator like the GBA Emulator has had only one update. But it has some nice features such as Real-Time-Save(RTS), Cheats, Screen Snapshot, etc.

The emulator menu is like the GBA one its the same GUI the only difference is their color GBA is yellow SNES is pink

    Useful Plugins

    iReader, iPlayer

    iReader

Like the other plugins to install just download and extract the files to _dstwoplug folder that should at the root of your SD card. v1.11 is the last version released so if you'll update just delete the old files place these instead. This plugin is well updated it has had 5 updates since its release. This was just updated 3 days ago. Also has some nice features such as an E-book menu, Bookmark setting, Selection and customize background, Set text size spacing .

Supported Text formats: txt, pdf, html, ini, etc
    Supported Image formats: BMP,JPEG,JPG,PNG,TIF,gif, etc

    Also supports ZIP files

    iPlayer

“DSTWO iPlayer” is a media player for DSTWO. This plugin last update was 4 weeks ago and has been updated two times since its release. These media player is multi-language, supports some of the most popular video and audio formats and has a nice GUI.

Some supported video formats: RMVB/RM/FLV/WMV/ASF/AVI, etc (the resolution 640x480 can be played smooth, and supports .srt sub file)
Some supported audio formats: MP3/WMA/APE/FLAC, etc.

To install do as the other plugins, download and unzip, then copy “DSTWO iPlayer” and “_dstwoplug” folders to the root of your microsd card.

Media files can be anywhere on the Micro SD card.

    Final Thoughs

I have been using this flashcard for about two months now and decided to make the review because I think its a great flashcard. I strongly recommend this one if you're looking for a flashcard with some nice and new features, it also has perfect NDS game compatibility and when a game doesn't work a patch from the SC Team is release fast. I believe the extra cost is reasonable considering all you'll get with this flashcard. Good emulators, perfect NDS game compatibility, good support, frequently updated EOS, lot of features, and good plugins.

Thanks for reading my review, hope you like it...

The one thing I like about the movie player on this is, it will play avi, divx, and files like that without having to resize or convert to DPG like is needed with moonshell.

I haven't tested it myself, but it will work with the DSi XL
