    3DS Miiverse and Unified Accounts.

It's about damn time IMO, this is huge news and when I saw it I knew I had to share it:

I am presuming this is what this morning's Nintendo Direct was about. I'm in the office with all-day meetings so I've not seen it yet. I don't think I'll have a chance to watch this until tomorrow night.

Yes, this was addressed in the Direct. I should point out, the update isn't out yet and doesn't have a real ETA other than "Coming Soon". But still, it's now confirmed we'll get unified accounts which is amazing. I have a good $5 or so left in my 3DS and nothing I'm interested to spend it on, but there are a few things on the Wii U I'd like to get

I imagine that they have to have this in place before they can start charging annually for the "Pokemon Cloud Box".

Yes. After watching the direct again (without being half asleep lol) they said the update will come next month.

Now I would love to convert my Wii points over to eshop credit as well. That's where I end up carrying a balance because you have to buy points in bulk. On the eshop I just pay as I go.

They also still need to tie digital purchases to your account instead of the hardware. Some cross buy would also be awesome. I would love to play my NES and SNES virtual console titles on my 3DS too.

Baby steps I guess, but this is good news.

That will be next I hope. I have 400 Wii points and nothing to buy.

At least on the Wii U, the purchases are tied to the account as well as the system. The problem is that you cannot use the account in more than one system at a time.

A friend of mine lost his Wii U in a flood. He bought a new system and contacted Nintendo to have his Nintendo ID migrated over. They untied his account from the lost Wii U to let him log in to the new system. When he did, he was able to redownload all of his purchased content.

    That's good to know. Thanks.

I wonder if 3ds will now work the same way
