    Nintendo 2DS

Yes, you read right. Nintendo is putting out a "new" system called the 2DS. I haven't read the full article but I'm guessing it just a 3DS without the depth slider (this being locked in 2D mode). Details in the link below

It is a "tablet" with 2 screens. There is no joint just a flat device.

    This basically sums it up.

If current 3DS owners look at the 2DS and think “Wow, that thing is dumb and I don’t want it,” I don’t think Nintendo much cares about that. The point is getting a different group of people into the DS ecosystem. Nintendo could drop the 3DS price by a few dollars, but it’s a much better idea to redesign the whole thing and ditch the elements that keep the price high and the margin low.
I think this is really smart espesically with the new Pokemon game coming out on 3DS. I know many people who do not like the 3D at all and this may convince them to get a 3DS (yeah even though you can turn 3D off they still have a hangup buying a 3D console when they hate 3D)

It is a much better move than sony with their gimpes PSP street model. This is not gimped for people who don't want 3D....(well they did go to one speaker but the 3DS already has crappy speakers so whatever).

It looks weird but ditching the clamshell not only will make it cheaper to manufacture but it will make it more durable. It is ridiculous how many DS models I have had get damaged and it is always at the hinge. I was reading that it is actually all one screen simulating the 2 screens (cheaper to manufacture) and that both "screens" are touch screens...that is the only thing I am confused about.

I may pick this up so my kids will leave my 3DS XL alone.....

I fully support the 2DS (not gonna buy it though) because I cannot use 3D on my 3DS XL without my eyes feeling they're gonna pop. I just keep my XL in 2D mode at all times (also increasing battery life)

But I'm sure people that can't handle 3D will flock to it as well.

Yeah when I told my buddy about he was hoping it was XL sized.....

Will they make a 2DS XL?

Are there any 3DS games now that have no 3D support? Will there be in the future?

All 3DS games can be played in 2D and it will always be that way.

Right, but I am wondering if there will be 3DS games that can not be played in 3D.

You sure you don't mean 3DS games that can only be played in 3D? Because as I just said, Nintendo confirmed that all 3DS games can be played in 3D or 2D and it will always be that way.
