Question Looking for Information on DS Modding

Hello, I have a few small questions concerning DS Modding:

What is the benefits of it?
What exactly can you do with it?
Is it possible to be able to play ROMs and the sort?
Can you make backups of DS Games?
Can you play backed up games?
    Can you back-up your saves?

I am interested in this, but I only seem to find stuff for DSi and 3DS. Nothing for my DS Lite. I also have a Action Replay DSi with a Miro SD Slot on it, so that makes me wonder, what else is possible? Might we one day be able to put files on the SD Card and Back Games straight from games? Maybe even put ROMs on the SD Card and play them straight from it?

I know its a lot of questions, but any help is greatlt appreciated. Thank you.

As far as modding it goes the only modding you can do is to buy a flash card.

    1) You can carry all your games on 1 card plus emulate Gameboy, NES and SNES.

    2) This is pretty much the same question as #1....

    3) Yes

    4) Yes you can, but it takes a while to do it. If you're using a old DS or DS Lite and you get an EZ Flash 3in1 for your Slot 2 then it it's much quicker. Otherwise you'll have to dump the games over a FTP server which takes 1hr or more.

    5) Yes

    6) Yes.

Ahhh! Thats what I was wondering. Yes, I Own the Red & Black DS Light. I just love Back Comp Systems. I'm even using an Old Wii (Still has DVD Read Firmware) and an old 4 Port USB PS3.

I was unsure. I didn't know if it involved any Firmware installation or what. I have a huge collection of GBA and GB Games as well as a fairly big collection of DS Games, so to carry them all around with me is Impratical. Pluse, I have pets and they tend to eat my Games. (My dog ate some of my Darth Vader PSP with my Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core game).

Can you tell me if there is a good guide for buying and using a flash card? And do I just google EZ Flash 3in1 to find where to buy it?

I can't really recomend a place to buy one as I myself have not found a good place (previously I have ordered from realhotstuff.com but they no longer accept Paypal and I'm guessing most places for Flash cards don't...you could check them out though). I will say avoid eBay and similar sites at all costs, you WILL get a fake (not a guarantee but there is a high chance).

As for which flash cards are the best, from personal experience I can say AceKard 2i and EZ Flash 3in1 are a great combo, particularly for the old DS/DS Lite. With these 2 items you'll be able to play most, if not all, of your DS and GBA games you've backed up. Using the Lameboy emulator you will be able to enjoy your GB and GBC backups as well. Though all flash cards can use Lameboy and most have EZ 3in1 support, I like the way AceKard's menu, AKAIO, integrates it.

The highest recommended card though is by far Supercard DSTwo. This one has some great extra features such as a extra built in CPU allowing for GBA emulation. Yes, emulation. This means you wouldn't need to get the EZ 3in1. The downside to this though is I've read that not all games work as you might expect due to being emulated. Some games will have audio issues or frame rate problems.

If cost is a major selling point for you I'd say get the AceKard 2i + EZ Flash 3in1. Altogether you should be able to get those for about $30-$40 whereas the Supercard DSTwo will cost $40+. This all depends on where you order from though, and you'll also need to factor in the price of a microSD card.

The Micro SD's is no problem I have 2x 4GB, 1x 2GB, and 1x 8GB. Comes from my phone company, (They send you a free Micro SD [Various sizes from 2 - 8] with each phone order/upgrade/replacement.)

Yeah, I am not a big E-Bay shopper and Amazon doesn't really have too much of that stuff. Yes Price is a real factor for me as of this moment and so is ease of use and Compatability. Seeing as I have a wide array of diffrent games, I am looking for one that will work with as many as possible, plus, I already have ROMs of all of my GBA and GB games on my PC and Phone as well as an Emulator. I just have trouble getting my DS emulator to work, so thats another reason I was looking into this.

From what you have told me, it seems the AceKard 2i + EZ Flash 3in1 would fit my bill greatly.
