Actually i also have this problem. i know r4i sdhc 3ds can not use the pokemon 2 clean rom, because this card can not work on it, they need to release a firmware update to support this new games, but i also tried the AP patched roms, also not working, but some guys confirmed it should be working on the patched roms. maybe i need to do some set up. and another i also have checked the supercard dstwo, it is working great with pokemon black 2 usa version patch rom. and r4i gold 3ds from r4ids.cn this one R4i Gold 3DS Wood R4i 3DS flashcard For DS DSi 3DS -dsflashcart.com has released the wood V1.53 to support the poekmon black/white 2 usa version. i think this card can play those games with the clean roms.

It dont solves error 5 but you can play it trough ysmenu at r4.Its easy!
Where is ysmenu.dat? I couldn't find it. And thanks for the help.
Edit: I did it without any ysmenu file (.nds or .dat), and just went through the TTMenu.
I kept getting stuck at the create a name screen. So I created a .sav file on DesMume past that part, and so far so good.
Edit 2: Okay so that failed. It froze on the save screen. More input would be greatly appreciated.
Which card are you using?If SDHC , There is 2 folders that i selected wrong one at the start and it gave me error.One of them got - and other one dont got -
This saving problem is really really common that i found myself lucky couse i can save and my game plays like original :P No lags, freezez etc.
There is no ysmenu.dat put all that files in the folder that matches your card at pack.(Not readme file or something like it lol)
i got a r4i-sdhc. im using the folder with r4i-sdhc, and a patched rom, keep getting a freze when i save my game.
im curetnly testing with a clean unpatched rom
I'm using R4i-SDHC 3DS. I've used the r4i-SDHC folder with a patched and clean rom. It plays, but it freezes when saving. I figured there was no ysmenu.dat, hah.
I've gotten it to play through ysmenu and through ttmenu with the save issue. I've also got the err5 to go away from the main r4 menu, but it was replaced by "cannot find save file". So how do you fix the save thing?
Edit: I followed what you said for a second time and played through TTMenu and got a save to work randomly. I tried to save again immediately after and it failed again. I don't know if that helps anyone...
