Smile bought a drive key'd wii

Ok so I bought a wii at a garage sale and found out that it has a drive key installed. I don't know much about it, is there a way to figure out what version drive key, and exactly what non-nintendo software is on there?

Also, I've been playing backed up games fine, but I'm trying to play a game that requires an update, my drive key's update blocker is set to import and the game is NTSC, just like my wii, so is it safe to upgrade it? I tried setting update blocker to all and the game would go to the start screen but I get a black error screen if I try to play it.

Edit: it's got the homebrew channel already, also, is there A way I can make the wii shop channel work, am I supposed to install an update? I'm scared that a Nintendo update will ruin the drive key or brick the wii

    * You can update your softmod using the any wii mod in my signature.
    * There is a shop channel update you can use to get latet sop channel.
    * You never want to take updates from nintendo (disc or interwebs). The any wii guide should install everything you need to run discs. Make sure you do the IOS pack as well.

Be sure you make a nand backup, and keep it safe.
