Is there any other use for this programmer? I am looking at almost 30 bucks to land one. I could pick up another DriveKey for 40...

What is up with not being able to update via DVD?

    In addition to oskippy's post:

    Updating the DKprog JTAG PROGRAMMER:

PLEASE NOTE: This updating requires Windows XP or Win 7. It will work in Vista but you will need to run the DKProg_1.3.exe in Windows XP compatibility mode. ( Right click the program and select properties. Select Compatability tab and ensure the box is ticked "Run this program in compatability mode for: Windows XP SP2

If you try and use Windows Vista in normal mode you will get this error.

    ***************
    Size: 1FA0h
    Error: connection error.

    ***************.

If you have a few chips to upgrade and you disconnect the JTAG programmer from your USB port you will have to redo the firmware update process each time to reconnect.

Thanks and credit goes to Oskippy for the tutorial.

Stuff needed PC, Jtag programmer with its cable, the drivekey with it is cable and it own serial and files from drivekey download site.
    1. Force the JTAG in its update mode: All the switches should be ON, meaning upp.
    2. Start DKprog_1.3.exe
    3. Connect the USB and the JTAG to the USB, red LED should light.
    4. File open and under file type choose programmer update
    5. Menu Programmer and update
    6. The red LED should be off now and under test you can turn on and off the blue LED
    7. File open, choose type SPI flash
    8. Update SPI Flash and wait as this might take couple of minutes
    9. Shut down the Dkprog_1.3 and change the Switch 1,3,4 to OFF and keep 2 ON
    10. if Drivekey is connect to Wii it is fine but remove the Wii power cabel.
    11. connect the Drivekey to the Jtag and connect to PC
    12. Start Dkprog again and you can check under Flash for the drivekey serial to see if it is the same as the one you downloaded for, if not then the update will not work, you take the serial you got from dkprog and enter it on the site for downloading the correct format for the specific drivekey
    13. File and choose filetype drivekey update
    14. Depending on 125 or 250 chip on your drivekey, then you choose the correct one and open it.
    15. Update FPGA Code and just wait and this might take some time but you will see when it is done.
16 Shutdown the software, disconnect the Jtag and Drivekey and put it back in Wii or power Wii on and enjoy gaming.

For updating other drivekey, do step 10-16
Remember that step 12 is very important.

I have gone through the whole tutorial, The TV screen displayed the following information after the upgrade of the DriveKey
    SW Version: 0$0
    FPGA Version: v2.0

I still can't load NSMB! Any ideas?

Same as mine but apparently its 2.1 and NSMB works fine.
How do you burn your NSMB copy?

I have a first gen. DriveKey and I just attempted the NSMB update.
My question is: How can I tell if update really worked?

Currently on drivekey menu screen it shows:

    SW Version: 0.0
    FPGA Version: v1.0

    Before the update it was:

    SW Version: 1.0
    FPGA Version: v1.0

Shouldn't it read this after update?
    SW Version: 0.0
    FPGA Version: v2.0

I don't have a backup of nsmb to test it on.

Just wanted to make sure this was right before I update a few friends chips!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

WHat happened to being able to update the drivekey through DVD. I noticed that they took this feature OFF their product feature list!!!

Why should I pay 30.00 for the Jtag updater when initially I wasn't going to have too? Like someone else said...a new Drivekey version 2 is 40.00??? What a Crock. Maybe I will swith to WASABI just on principle if I got to buy a new chip.

I have also updated my old DriveKey to the lastest firmware. But i am still unable to play NSMB..
I have tried alot of different versions but the game never starts..
Do i have to modify the ISO using some kind of program to add the BCA?
    Thanks
