None of my backups work with brand new driveKey and Wii

Hello, apologies if this has been covered, I browsed the forums somewhat already but couldnt find a solution.

I just bought a new Wii and driveKey. As far as i can tell, my wii is a D3-D2/Nothing drive chip, and my driveKey is the yellow sticker(v2?). The wii is running firmware 4.2U.

I have burned with ImgBurn, at 2x speed. I have Verbatim DVD-R discs, and a LiteOn DVD burner. I have tried 3 discs now, 2 copies of Maramusa:Demon Blade, and Super Mario Galaxy. Every time after i go to the disc channel, the screen goes black, and i get the "disc read error, eject the disc and turn the power off and/or refer to your manual". Wii Sports plays fine, and I can access the driveKey config menu so I think it's not a hardware problem. I am in Canada, and i made sure the ISO's i downloaded were NTSC region.

Sorry for the non-tech specifics, I just started browsing this site today, and feel like a lot of it is over my head. Basically I thought all I would have to do is plug in the chip and I was off to the races, as the website leads me to believe.

In that thread, the poster was told that his only solution may be to softmod, but this website:
DriveKey Review + Wii Mod-Chip DriveKey
says that the driveKey works with all wii drive chips, including D3/D2nothing.

confusing.

Two things:

1) I ALWAYS forget to set the region on the chip, the little dipswitches (Step one on THIS page)

2) What is your serial number on your Wii?

d3-2 or d3-2(v2) version dvd drives will not play dvd backed up games

First numbers of the serial are LU11.

I definitely set the dip switches properly.

gosh-darnit. (censored myself :)

So currently, no solution exists for playing backup games on a d3-2/d3-2(v2) drive, the only option is a USB/SD loader, correct?

So would you suggest going for one of those, or just returning my new wii, and buying an older one from craigslist?

Check your ENTIRE serial number to get the correct drive information, use THIS tool

I checked, it told me this:

* There is a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.
* And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.
* And a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E.
* Lastly, a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-DMS.

Of the example images on the side, it most resembled the "GC2-D3-2 (no text)", as there was a drive chip, but no text on it.

Also the driveKey is supposed to work on all other drive chip types, so that as well leads me to believe it is a D3-2/D3-2(v2).

Argh.
