    Angry Drivekey 2.0 Stopped Working

    Okay guys here's my problem,

I have a epoxy chipped WII on firmware 4.1U playing backups fine with the drivekey until last week. Now i cannot play any backups (memorex/verbatim). With the drivekey installed and "on" my originals do not load up either. I am to access the drivekey menu most of the time but sometimes it hangs and i have to power off, and sometimes it say give me the "cannot read disc...please eject..." message.

I opened up my wii to see if the drivekey's blue led flashes when reading my backups but all it does is flash red blue red (within 1s), the drive spins down and stops and the led lights do not come on again.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The place I bought it from is responding very slowly.

    Thanks.

Did you try to reseat the ribbon? Perhaps the ribbon has become damaged.

Take the chip out, do your original retail tiles play?

My Drivekey chip is currently taken out of the wii collecting dust along with my backups....and I can play all my originals fine.

I've tried re-seating the ribbon many times...even flipping the ribbon which doesn't really make sense but tried anyways...and it still doesn't work.
I looked at the contacts on the ribbon and the ribbon clips do clamp directly onto its respective contact....(not touching any adjacent ones)
The ribbon does not seem to be the problem because I can access the Drivekey Menu when the chip is installed.

if you check the news section of our site we addressed we were having some server issues at this time, send me your details. If you have access to another wii drive that is moddable it'd be advised to check it in there, as it could just be your laser is weak now.

Dropped by Canadamods today with my wii and drivekey 2.0 to see if they could help. Apparently the chip was the problem, because when the guy replaced my chip with a new one, my backups worked like a charm. So my drivekey 2.0 chip was at fault as I originally thought. Finally my Wii is up and running.

to follow up on this, I played around with the drivekey afterwards for a while to try to figure out what it could be that went wrong with it, inspectionwise it looked fine, so it was really confusing. What seems to have fixed it is shorting the 0 ohm resistor ... its strange because its already a zero value, and it was connected so it doesnt really make any sense, but thought it might be worth noting incase something similar occurs
