    Worst Luck Ever

So I get the new Drivekey V2 yesterday and install it today.

I can access the Drivekey menu, but my remote powers off when the menu comes up. I've tried different remotes and replacing batteries.

I can see the menu, I just cannot make changes to it.

Also, it appears I am running 4.2u, and whenever I put in a backup, I get the message that there is an error, that it need to eject the disk, power off and look at my owner's manual.

So, am I completely screwed here or what?

I just bought this thing and installed it, and paid a pretty good price for it, so I hope that it wasn't a complete waste of money.

Is there any way I can get a remote working to access the menu?

Will the makers of Drivekey update their menu to support the playing of backed up games again?

To change in the menu of drivekey, you have to move with the button reset, the wiimote doesn't work for that, stay pressed reset to change something.
About the games, I have the same problem with my wii 4.2u.
I hope for a drivekey update.

from my understanding 4.2u will no longer play DVDs that are not the same region as your wii console. that is why many are not updating to 4.2u

The only games I'm trying to play are the ones for my region which is U.S.

When I got my Drivekey, the dipswitches were already preset for U.S.

I'm certain I'm doing everything right. They just won't play.

    Metalliham,

How old is your wii ? If you have one of the newer wii's that has the latest dvd drive it will not play dvdr disks anymore. This is something nintendo has implemented to prevent piracy. If this is the case then your only option would be to softmod. I recommend the guide in the tut section its right on and works very well. You then will have to use a usb loader of some sort with a external hard drive to play backups. Wiiflow or Usb Loader Gx are both very good. I use Usb Loader GX.

I actually got it over a year ago, so I don't think it's one of the newer ones.

I'm wondering now if I should mess with the dip switch or not?

Like I said, it was already pre-set, but it seems that 4.2u won't let me play any games from DVD-R or DVD+R.

It's obviously working because I can access the menu etc.

Just frustrating spending that much money for which amounts to nothing.

    Metalliham,

What type of Dvd-r are you using. My wii will only play verbatim 16x dvd-r disks. Also what do you use to burn the images. Imgburn at a 2x burn rate on those discs is what I use and have not found one yet that doesn't work other than ghostbusters which is known to have issues. Also does it play the originals ? I have read in different places that if you tighten the dvd drive down to much it when putting wii back together that it can cause problems with the drive and it reading disks.

    Success!

I was burning my disks at 4x per recommendation from reading these boards.

I burned at 2x and I'm playing Madworld as we speak!
