    hmm.. done some reading on google..

    apparently it has to do with the on the fly patching of the datastream that the drivekey is doing that makes certain games like mario kart run choppy....

    now what??
    any fix??

    @NuTT
    you're telling me mario kart is running smoothly on your WII ?
    because on mine gameplay is a bit choppy, not so much, but noticable.

    btw, i'm using taiyo yuden dvd-r burned with pioneer 118D, so i dont think it's the media or the drive, so either you dont notice laggy gameplay in mario kart, or you really HAVEN'T got laggy gameplay, in which case i really want to know your setup

    @gizmo1908
    i'm running Mario_Kart_PAL_WII-MOMENT as backup, try that one, it works.

    I also tried that one. It shows up in disc channel. After i start the game i get a error.
    Cannot read disc. Disc is damaged. or similar
    If i remove the disc at that moment it says Please insert Mario Kart disc.
    But nothing happens if i reinsert it. I get the same error
    Maybe i burnt it wrong or something. I will try again tonight (I live in Holland). After that i give up.

    Gizmo, My problem is exactly the same, but the thing is . The game was working fine a few months ago when I tried it last, So Im thinking the problem may stem from a software upgrade

    I redownloaded Mario_Kart_PAL_WII-MOMENT from internet and burnt it with ultra iso at 3X. Game works perfect. YEAH!!!! FINALLY!!!

    I downloaded that version before and burnt it with imgburn but that one didnt work. Now it works perfect. I've only played one track but i also didnt notice any gameplay stutter or something. I will play a little bit longer to see how it runs. Maybe it's my eyes.

    Thnx for the help you guys. Nice to have this kind of forums where people help each other.

    hi gizmo, nice to hear it's working for you!
    when a track begins, you get like an intro movie where the camera flies over the track, that piece should be perfectly smooth and not stutter.
    Also, when you're playing the track, when using an original disc it scrolls very smoothly, i have it stutter a bit (not much, but noticable)

    where did you get ultra iso? is it freeware?

    I had no problems with it. Dont know why. Ultraiso is not freeware, but try to search newsgroupes, you will find one. I burned it with ultraiso at 3x en now it works and i cant see any stuttering.

    hmm.. i'm using imgburn (latest version). it never failed on me...
    maybe the WII drive is a bit shabby...
    i doubt it's the media or burner (taiyo yuden DVD-R and pioneer 118D).
