    Talking Another Newbie Question

I have a virgin year old wii which i've recently updated to 4.2u and am not interested in the current issues with the complex softmod 4.2 update. I simply want to play games i've downloaded and burnt to disc. will this work for me? Thanks for the help.

Only modded wiis can play burned disks. If you're afraight to do it yourself have someone who knows what he is doing do it for you.

Drivekey, Sunkey, Wasabi, pretty much any chip will do the same thing. Just put the chip in, burn, and play.

You still need to do a little soft modding to get the newer games to work.

Your best bet is to read and gain knowledge of the Wii or get a box of tissues.
PLEASE SEARCH, READ, AND THINK BEFORE DOING ANYTHING.

Almost all of the new ribbon style chips are out with firmware to play the newest games. Just make sure you order the correct chip. The ones that advertise the NSMB updated firmware. No need for any softmod.

Thank you for the awsome information. Lastley i was able to enter my serial number and found my chipset is GC2-D2E. I have been reading that some drives wont work in the "problem with drivekey and 4.2 update" thread. Is the info i need to know if i will have compatablility issues with the drivekey? And should my chipset be able to work. THanks again.

Your drive is fine for chip mod. 4.2 update blocks the wii from playing out of region games. ie... a PAL game on a NTSC wii wont work. It will play anything of the same region. Just make sure you get the newest version of whatever chip you get.

The site i'm looking at describes the drivekey as "FPGA version 2.0, software version 1.0. Works with NSMB without any patchs. Yellow Sticker on the back of the drivekey!" would this be considered the newest version. I would post the website name but i don't know if i'm allowed. I found them off drivekeys website under "Get it Now" North America.
