Just installed a new drive key in my wii. I currently have it soft modded with backup launcher , wad, HBC, and some other things on it. Did i need to delete those channels prior to the installation ofdrive key? I did not do the soft mod so i dont know anything about it other than it played most of my backup games. The game that i wanted to play waswii sport resort and it wouldnt play on the softmod. so i bought the drive key because it suppose to work on all games and it doesnt play either. eefffffffff...Anyways my problem is this game is not working. It shows up on the main menu but when i try and load it i get a black screen, the controller stops working as well...its doing it with other games too...same thing...thanks ..please help..
I tried to get to drive key config, pressed eject 3 times, and i get the gamecube but when i hit start i get black screen again..
FFmedic can you post your results. I am experiencing the same symptoms (see post above yours) and am also thinking of the softmod route. The only difference is that I do have one working game but the rest do the black screen and give error has occurred message...Out of curiousity do you have the infamous silver ribbon cable in you wii??
Biggun, I have also been told that i need to update my wii which in turn updates the IOS/cIOS. I personally didnt like the soft mod because it doesnt play all backups, mostly the new releases. I dont do the soft modding so im screwed in that department because i know you can tweak things to get new games to play. The drive key was my way out of that and the drive key is doing the same crap. I installed a drivekey in my buddies and it plays all games so far and its the 4.2u i believe. I think i need to update my wii to fix problem problem with drive key. I dont know if updating the wii will erase the soft mod or brick it. Im looking into that now.
Keep me posted. I tried 4.1u and I could no longer access the drive key menu. It came up with unknown disk or something like that after the gamecube disk disappeared. I went back to 3.2u and it was ok after that. Now at 3.4u (see my post) but still have issues with newer games but I believe the older games will play fine so it does look like a firmware issue. The thing I don't understand is that after upgrading from game disk the problem still exists. I have seen some posts that 4.0 works fine. I saw only 1 other post where 4.1 made the drive key menu unavailable but everyone said it was a physical problem (guess they were wrong about that).
yeah this shiz it frustrating and theres not much help in here, ive come to terms if i cant figure it out on my own forget it. Think i might sell this thing lol im over it...the drive key was suppose to play anything. what a joke..
