We bought ours from Amazon 2 weeks ago. There was only a 25% chance of getting the D3-2, according to our serial number. In fact, a few sites said our serial number was in the "safe" range. So, now we have a DriveKey we likely can't return and I can return this Wii, but are there places that are more likely to have old stock? When was the new drive released? Was it August 2009, as some sites have mentioned?

Please help. We would rather not buy a used one from a stranger because we don't want to get scammed or have it break soon.

Thanks! I know that's an option (we bought the DriveKey from ModChip Central), but they won't take the chip back and I'll have to pay for shipping all over again. It's ok. We just bought our brother's modded-Wii instead. I appreciate the response, though
