I'm annoyed because I received my chip 8 days ago from consolesource.com; if they had let me know that a new chip was on its way I would've waited for it.

Can we just use that ^^ to downgrade?

I was searching for this same answer. If I had found this site prior to me upgrading I would have been fine. I've been checking youtube and I see 1 guy who said you can downgrade but he said you may brick the system, so once I read that I backed away to do more research.

Has anyone successfully downgraded from 4.2 to 4.1?

There is no way I'm going to buy a JTAG trinket and throw more money at this Drivekey POS. Softmod works a treat, Drivekey sacrificed to satan on the fire.

Just got this today from my drivekey supplier

"It will be a JTAG update meaning it hooks up to your computer using their USB Programmer which is due to be released soon as well. You can choose to purchase the jtag programmer (will be around $19.95) to do updates yourself or you can choose to send it to us to update."

    Unhappy Drive key dont work

    HI
    I bought a DrikeKey.
I installed properly on my Wii, however none of my backups work, including backups from friends of mine. The menu DriveKey works correctly as well as my original games. When I put the backups appears a black screen saying to eject the dvd and restart the Wii. I try already writing the backups with several DVD market - and + R. None works. Does this DriveKey damaged? My Wii was bought for Christmas and came with the firmwares 4.1u. The serial of the Wii is LEH28639 ... Does my Wii does not support DriveKey? Please someone help. Thanks

ped, If you have 4.2, non-region backups won't work. So if you live in the US, only US-NTSC backups will work.

Pretty sure that your Wii is, obviously from your post, a post-August 2009 build and it's DVD drive is NOT compatible with the DriveKey. Another solution (softmod) will be in order or if you purchase the WiiKey Fusion, it promises to run backup games from SD slot or USB, but NOT from the DVD drive. BTW, it is NOT available yet.
Whatever you do, DO NOT update firmware. It may limit the tools you may use in the future to "free your wii"

    Thank you for the explanation.
Not quite what I was expecting but at least I know why my DriveKey not work.
For the softmod, if I do this on my wii, I get to play backup games on dvd?
If so what is the best way to softmod for my wii.
    Thank you very much.
