I would appreciate it if someone could identify a version of PAL version SSBB that is know to work with drivekey.

Has anyone else had trouble with SSBB and drivekey? I have 4.2e firmware.

I also unfortunately just got the drivekey and then afterwards learned that it's not all it's cracked up to be. I understand that out of region wont work for the drivekey, however, I also hear that there should be a drivekey menu ... where do I find that? I'm 99% sure I installed it right but it won't play backups that are ntsc-u either, should I be looking for the drivekey menu somewhere?

    Us Drivekey Not Perfect

The Drivekey is not perfect. There are some titles such as Rock Band Beatles, Night At The Museum 2, James Bond Quantum Solace and several more that no matter how many downloads I have tried, (About 5 or 6 each) none of them worked on my Wii. This is just something I am going to have to live with. I have an NTSC Wii with Menu 4.0 and the Drivekey with the NSMB update. If you use the Drivekey with Menu 4.2 you can expect a lot less downloads to work. That is why almost every forum dedicated to the Drivekey says "DO NOT UPGRADE TO MENU 4.2" if I did then PAL downloads would not work on my Wii. I have even tried Regionfrii & WiiBrickBlocker, but again, they don't work on all titles. Also you should use Image Burn to burn your disc's at 4x or slower if your burner will allow it and buy some real good quality discs like Verbatim or Taiyo Yudens (NOT THE VALULINES). You will have a lot less failures. There is a menu to set the defaults on the drivekey. Try doing a search on this site for "Settings For Drivekey" or do the same search on YouTube. Try contacting your point of sale and ask them what they pre-set the defaults at would save you the trouble of having to do it yourself Very Very easy to do. This site has a lot of info about the drivekey. Use the search feature. As far as I am concerned, it is the BEST hard mod device in existence so far.

Ok, seems nobody has posted a solution...

I have fixed my 4.2e woes, however it's your call as to any action you take from here or my advice.

I have DOWNGRADED back to 4.1e without issue and my problems have been solved. 'Mauifrog' was my savior. There is a chance of bricking, however the chance is very slim. Like I said, it's your choice, but I had no issues as long as you follow the instruction perfectly!

    My original post is HERE

Ok, here's what to do... Sorry for the crap pics!

    Needed:
    • Internet Connection
    • The files from Step 1
    • (Recommended) NAND backup
    • (Recommended) Priiloader installed

    1) Download and Extract THIS to sd:\

    2) Click the sd-icon from the channel menu

    3) Load the boot.dol/elf

    4) Dop-mii starts, Choose "Install ios36 with fakesign", then select 'ios36'

    5) Follow steps 2+3 again, this time press 'A' on IOS36, a new menu will appear.

    6) Choose 'System Menu'

    7) On this menu, The left side will ask for what you want to install, the right is what's currently installed. Using the d-pad, change the left side to 4.1 and the press '+' to install

    8) On the next screen, select to download from 'NUS'. Continue following the prompts, it will check your IOS60, allow it to patch it for you.

That's it, let it do it's thing and restart when finished.

Thanks for the info Chunkhead. However, I've recently purchased a Wode. I'd rather do that than softmod. It looks like a pretty cool bit of hardware. As soon as I get the thing, I'll post a review.

Drivekey, if you're listening, I would have stayed with you, but you provided no support, no answers, no whispers, nothing. Your customer support sucks.

Got the WODE. It's installed and working great! As a matter of fact, the WODE team put an update out that allows me to rip my purchased discs with bca. Can the DriveKey do that? Can they at least post an update? Didn't think so. You lost customers and have created a very bad name for yourselves. Shame on DriveKey.
