Drivekey Autoboot with a Wiikey Installed?

Hi All,

I'm trying to help a friend unbrick his wii.
He has an original wiikey installed and his firmware is at 4.0U

He hasn't tried installing any homebrew... Strangely, he started getting errors about a corrupted mii channel.

Now the Wii won't boot up at all, and he gets a scrambled error message upon turning it on. The wii never makes it to the health & safety screen.

He is able to boot into rescue mode (GC 4 direction dpad)
However, none of the autoboot discs work. UUDv2, Nintendo Repair Disc, etc

If we installed a drivekey, would/should the autoboot discs work?

Thanks

They should work with the Wiikey. The drivekey will probably need configuring on a working Wii to set it to allow autoboot if you want to give it a try. Haven't viewed my Wiikey config in a while so unsure whether they have that setting enabled or not.

I wonder if the "Block Updates" configuration on the wiikey could be preventing the autoboot. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the link Tealc... I think i've been through most of those pages.
I think I'll try and get my buddy to drop his wii off for a week and see what I can do with it.

Thanks again!

Hey Tealc (And anyone else out there)

I got a hold of my buddy's wii.

I can get it to autoboot punch out from the recovery menu by using wiiBootMe to flip the first byte.

However, It still won't boot the universal unbrick disc v2, pink fish, or any other autboot wad manager or anyregion changer I can find.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
