DriveKey to Fix Banner Brick

Hello everyone, my Wii has a banner brick on it right now and I believe the only way to solve it is to get a mod chip (and I have chosen DriveKey).

My questions are, however, do ALL DriveKey's have an autoboot feature? If so, how do I use it/turn it on? Will I be able to load the Official Nintendo Backup Disk from the Recovery Menu with a regular 4x?

Thank you all for your time! Any tips on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about the mod chip but if its a bad .wad you installed "and you kept it" use this: [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] it is an auto booting wad manager to get rid of the malformed banner

Will this work without a mod chip on a 4.0u?

Also, I just read that a mod chip won't autoboot any disk that has trucha on it... Can anyone explain what that means and maybe how to get around it?

Hello!

I have the same issue, my Wii (4.1 FW) is banner bricked too, due to a bad WAD. I still have the wad, but after the trucha-bug was fixed in FW 3.3, any disc that is signed with the trucha tool will not autoboot. I am trying to autoboot from the menu you enter using the gamecube trick (pressing all four directions at once).

I have a WiiKey2 installed right now, but would it help to install a drivekey chip? In [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] it is demonstrated how to unbrick a bannerbricked wii, using Nintendo's Offical Wii BackUp Disk - and thats why i want a drivekey chip. But is it possible to have the WiiKey2 AND the Drivekey chip installed at the same time?

I know, i could just remove the wiikey2 chip, but i would rather leave it where it is (as i dont like hardware and dont like messing with it unless ABSOLUTELY necessary).

EDIT: The ISO you link to seems to be Nintendo's Offical Wii BackUp Disk v1.31? The size is the same, and i got mine from the scene release of it?

This is the originally correctly signed version of Nintendo's

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I expected it, but nice to becertain. Is it ABSOLUTELY certain that i cannot autoboot ANY custom wii disc (signed with the truncha tool), due to the Truncha bug being fixed in FW 3.3 (i am on 4.1).... So EITHER, i have to uninstall my WiiKey2 chip, and install a DriveKey chip - and use autoboot + the GC controller trick to load any CD with wadmanager on... OR i could wait for a FW update via a legit Nintendo DVD (and download the an edition that have NOT been scrubbed)!

Is it possible to update with 4.1 FW, although that is whats already installed? Will the Wii accept that? Because the 4.1 FW should be out together with a game soon (i think sports already have it, right?)

Any help is greatly appriciated...

Regards

I have a Wiikey installed, although I think it had stopped functioning as I had to use backup launcher to run backed up games.

I bricked my Wii with a bad wad. 4.0(eur)

I have now bought a drivekey and installed that (without removing the suspected dodgy wiikey). I had drivekey.com enable autoboot for me before they sent it.

I can now load any original wii games or backed up games, so far so good.

However I can't load any of the unbrick discs, or 1.3 recovery disc etc.

I also tried the autoboot wad manager but that wouldn't autoboot.

I have heard of a "last chance unbrick disc" or LCUD but all download links to it are dead.

Has anybody else got any ideas.

Cheers.

Do you have both DriveKey and WiiKey chip installed? At the same time?

Yes but if your Wiikey still works I wouldn't advise it.

My wiikey stopped working so I just installed a drivekey without removing the wiikey.

As I said autoboot definitely works, I even burnt a copy of sports resort yesterday and that loads. Couldn't play because I didn't have the motion plus thingys connected.

I went and bought a copy hoping that it would have an update that would wipe out the bad wad but it played as normal and nothing has changed.

Is there any way of connecting to the Wii via a pc and running progs from the SD card?
