Us New Drivekey Revision

its true. drivekey has yet another revision of the chips diode. now its stating that a 0hm resistor is in place of the B4/X4 diode. this is now i believe the 4th change to it. i would exercise extreme caution when considering a drivekey. there has been so many issues with playback and they were all supposedly fixed, but were not, seeing as how this 0hm resistor is suppose to correct a problem that was said to have been resolved months ago. it seems drivekey is using trial and error manufacturing, and the only losers in that method is the consumer. the choice is always yours, do ur homework.

i seen somebody posted this already, however nothing was displayed when i clicked on it, so i posted my own announcement. if i find anymore detail on this i will update on it.

If it's true there is yet another version, could some of the modchip retailers provide some info about it, please?

A closeup picture of it would be great, too.

Wrt the problems with the B4 and X4 versions of the DriveKey chip, there are reports that the problem could be fixed by replacing the original silver flat drive cable with a new flat drive cable (similar to the one supplied with the DriveKey chip). Something to do with 4 of the connectors in the silver cable missing. Can anyone please confirm this? It seems that only users with a LU64/65 serial Wii with a silver cable were affected by the issue (= periodic problems when playing original games).

bought mine last week from consolesource.com
shipped to me in 3 days
the drivekey however doesn't have b4 or x4 on it... the diode got 2 "00" on it :P
although the website says it is the newest generation of x4 diode, I put it on my wii and tested it out....
backed up NTSC J Zero Gesshoku no Kamem.... played fine.. no problem
backed up NTSC J Fragile Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo....played fine.. no problem
backed up NTSC We Cheer played fine... no problem
backed up NTSC J Happy Dance Collection.... played fine no problem
backed up NTSC Super Smash Bros Brawl with verbatim azo dvd + dl at 2.4x with imgburn.........played fine no problem.... animation was loading a bit lagging for like a min and then after that ran smoothly

I was a little worry when I got my chip and it doesn't have x4 on it but I donno it turned out ok..hmmm

i cant find any more info on it. only what modchipcentral said. drivekey's website latest news is from 3-9-09 stating about the problem with playback on some. so they have known that problem has existed going on 5 months now, and its still not resolved??? or is it something shady with modchipcentral, because ive only seen all the revision announcements on there in particular. i personally wouldnt recommend a purchase there because of it. i bought a drivekey advertised as X4 and got a B4. so im not sure whats going on here.

sounds like its one of those 0hm resistors. any way u could take a picture of it for us, more specifically the diode so we could see the 00. much appreciated if so. u mite need a good power camera in order to get a clear one though.

i just came across a wii which i obtained for $60. i have something to use my drivekey with now. its a B4 diode. i will be able to test it out more extensively and see if i run across any problems with it. i only had time to test it a little bit before my wasabi came and it hasnt been installed since.

$60 is a good price!

Does it have a silver drive cable? Given the low price I assume it's an old Wii, so it's probably not an LU64/65 serial Wii - but if it is, it would be interesting to see if it has periodic problems playing original games with the DriveKey installed.

Great if you could test some of the backup games, which have been reported to cause problems on American NTSC Wiis with DriveKey, and also compare against Wasabi DX performance on the same games.

For instance, does it play Ghostbusters (USA version)? And which of the PAL games does it not play?

(But of course any differences in the Wii System Menu versions and/or softmods on the two Wiis may cause the games to act differently)
