    Burned game turns screen black

hey everyone. so i had recently purchased and installed a drivekey for my wii and well it installed perfectly and i can play original games. however when i put in a burned disk and hit the play button the screen turns black and i have to reset the entire system. i was reading somewhere about it but i am new to this type of thing and i know it sounds a bit silly but would like it put in baby steps lol. if anyone could help on the situation that would be perfect. thank you for all your help in advance and i hope this helps others that are having the same problem

I only got this when I played Wii resort sports. It just shows the main Screen then When I click start it turns black. My other games work. I really want this game to work.

@pyro707: Wii Sports Resort plays perfectly fine on my PAL Wii with DriveKey and Wii System Menu 4.1E. Please provide some more info about your setup (Wii region? System Menu version?). Also, which region version of the game are you trying to play? Please make sure you have an unscrubbed and otherwise untouched version of the game to make it easier to troubleshoot.

@dbrocki: In addition to answers to the questions asked by bsmalley23 above, please provide some more details about your setup and the games you are trying to play, too.

I have the same problem man, and tell me this, do you have an ntsc wii? i bet you do, if you don't know what an ntsc wii is, its a certain region like canada or usa, i seem to not be able to play ANY pal games, so my guess is you downloaded all PAL games (pal being another region) so what you need to do, is if you want a game you need to get an ntsc or USA version of it.

Bronsir, which PAL games have you tried so far, and which version of the Wii System Menu do you have? (I assume no softmod)

It should be the exception rather than the rule that you encounter problems playing out-of-region backup games...

You didn't say which version of the Wii System Menu you have. And do you have any softmods installed?

Which other PAL games have you tried besides the three you mentioned?

No, I mean the version number of your Wii System Menu. Is it 3.4 or 4.0 etc.?

One common cause of cross-region games not working is that DriveKey (correctly) blocks the Wii's attempt to update the system menu from the game disc, in order to prevent the Wii from bricking. This causes the Wii to hang at a black screen. This particular issue can be solved by updating the system menu to the latest version (currently 4.1) either by wifi or from a new in-region game disc.
