I bought a wii system about a month ago. The new systems do not seem to have the original chip, which you could identify as D2C,etc. Therefore, I opted to buy a drivekey (which is compatible with ALL wii systems supossedly). I installed the first one (all connections and setting as directed by website) and could only read originals, would stop when putting a backup (which was recorded at 2x using Verbatim DVD-R, also tried Maxell 2x DVD+R, both using imageburn). I contacted the seller and requested an exchange for another chip, he sent me another one and after installation, I got the same results. The backup games that I have can be played perfectly when using a system with a Wasabi Chip.
Has anybody had the same problem, any resolution, am I recording the backups right? Any help and time will be greatly appreciated.

burn the verbatim dvd-r with 4x speed
Thanks ben361. The switches are correctly set. Will take the chip out and re-install, will also check the cables and do the recording at 4x. Will post results. Thanks for your time and help.

what is the marking on the diode? X4 or B4. it seems strange that 2 in a row would do the same thing. i would say something else is the culprit not the chip, but then again.........
try this, if you didnt fix it already, open your wii up like your installing the chip and tests the games with it open so you can see the l.e.d. light on the drivekey. i tested all my games with it open and rested the disc drive on the right side of the wii standing up at a 90degree angle. its perfectly fine to do this just place a finger on it while changing games so it dont fall. whenever you put a disc in the drivekey light should be red i believe, whenever you start the game if the drivekey light goes out and its like the drive just shutdown its most likely the drivekey.
