i was wondering why some games work fine with drivekey and some go to a black screen after the initial boot? is there any way to get them to work?
i have a pal wii that was updated to latest firmware (ie patched through wii menu and internet)
i found a thread that said insert a new game of same region and allow it to patch then it will fix the problem, but if its patched from internet would that be necessary?

yes, updating your wii via internet is the same thing as updating via a new game. if you already updated through the internet to the latest firmware you will not find any game that will ask you to update because it already has been. are the games that blackscreen out of region?
yes the games that dont work are all non-pal games. and some are scrubbed some not, doesnt seem to matter as i play scrubbed Pal games without black screen.
It seems that the DriveKey chip is not 100% compatible with import games. I.e. if you have an NTSC Wii, once in while you may come across PAL versions that don't work, even if you have a fully updated firmware 4.0u. I don't know if this is the case the other way around (playing NTSC games on a PAL Wii).
Try to download the same game in the NTSC version instead, and it should work.
(NB! When using firmware versions above 3.3, it is important that the game is not scrubbed. Also, as a general rule of thumb, do not apply any region or update block patches to the .iso - just burn and use as is).

thats a bit odd macro, maybe 3.4 has internal revisions like 3.4 v1 v2 etc and the particular one you have allows for scrubbed games still.. afaik though scrubbed games died > 3.3u

No, PAL or NTSC shouldn't make a difference in this respect. Are you playning the games through the disc channel, or do you use some kind of homebrew to play them, like HBC, GeckoOS, USB Loader etc.?

I am having the same problem as originally described in this thread. One of them a NTSC and the other a PAL. I am running 4.0u. My question is...Are you saying I should not run the games through BrickBlocker first as I always do?
