Pal games on my NTSC wii

    Hello all:

I'm 0 for 3 on trying to get Pal games to work on my version 3.4 NTSC wii. Drive key installed, works great on all NTSC games.

These Pal games are not scrubbed, all three games have shown up in the disc channel, when I click on it the wii locks up on a black screen, can't even get back to the wii menu, I have to hold down the power button for 5 long seconds to get it to reset.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong.

    In drivekey menu settings are:

    drive key - on
    region override - on
    update blocker - import
    wi disc autoboot - off
full gc region free - on

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know why I thought of this, but could I need HD cables?

guys..this has been covered many times before.....the update blocker on foreign games are enabled...good...keeps your wii from getting bricked...but the foreign game will not play......if your wii fw is at not a high enough version, it will goto black screen after you hit start.

    solution:...

    • put in a new release SAME REGION GAME as the region of your wii..and let it update your wii.
    • eject..put in the foreign game that has black screen and the Game should play......if not then you have another issue

    cheers

what difference does using the game update have over the manual firmware updates? i have a PAL v4.00 wii and encountering this problem with ALL the NTSC games i have.

so i should just get the newest PAL game i can get a hold of, and then if it asks for update, i just let it do it?

    thanks

Why did you deactive the DriveKey first? You can easily perform a system update via the internet with the DriveKey chip installed and being active.

Strange. I have a PAL Wii (4.0e) and I can play NTSC games without problems... (Except WarioWare: Smooth Moves NTSC, but I suspect that the problem is a bad dump for this particular one)

derekcranson, which titles do you have problems with?

I have a US Wii.. updated to 4.0u with punchout update patch, then installed drivekey v4.

I'm unable to play the following PAL games:

    Boogie Superstar
    G1 Jockey
    Marvel Ultimate Alliance
    Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
Tak and the Guardians of Gross

I put the game in, it shows up in the disc channel, but when I start it the screen goes black, the wiimote desyncs and it hangs. I have to remove power to reset the wii.

I thought this was because the games may have pal updates on them so I used brickblocker to pacth one image, and retried that and got the same results.

Any idea how to fix this? There are no newer updates available for the console via wii update.

    Thanks..
